Taurus Poniatovii
Taurus Poniatovii (Latin for ''Poniatowski's bull'') was a constellation created by the former rector of Vilnius University, Marcin Odlanicki Poczobutt, in 1777 to honor Stanislaus Poniatowski, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. It consisted of stars that are today considered part of Ophiuchus and Aquila. It is no longer in use. It was wedged in between Ophiuchus, Aquila and Serpens Cauda. A depiction of the constellation can be found on the wall of the Vilnius University Astronomical Observatory. The stars The stars were picked for the resemblance of their arrangement to the Hyades group which form the "head" of Taurus. Before the definition of Taurus Poniatovii, some of these had been part of the obsolete constellation River Tigris. The brightest of these stars is 72 Oph (3.7 magnitude) in the "horn" of Taurus Poniatovii. The "face" of Taurus Poniatovii is formed by 67 Oph (4.0), 68 Oph (4.4) and 70 Oph (4.0). 72 Ophiuchi is a binary star system in the equatorial constellation of Ophiuchus. It is visible to the naked eye as a faint, white-hued point of light with a combined apparent visual magnitude of 3.73. It is located approximately 86.9  light years away from the Sun based on parallax, but is moving closer with a heliocentric radial velocity of -23.9 km/s. As of 2008, the pair had an angular separation of . According to Gray et al. (2003), the primary component has a stellar classification of A5 V, matching an A-type main-sequence star. Cowley et al. Former constellations are old historical Western constellations that for various reasons are no longer widely recognised or are not officially recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). Barnard's Star is a red dwarf about six light-years from Earth in the constellation of Ophiuchus. Melotte 186 (also known as Collinder 359) is a large, loosely bound open cluster located in the constellation Ophiuchus. An open cluster is a type of star cluster made of up to a few thousand stars that were formed from the same giant molecular cloud and have roughly the same age. More than 1,100 open clusters have been discovered within the Milky Way galaxy, and many more are thought to exist.
