Tauriana
Tauriana or Taureana (Taurianum in Latin, ''Ταυρανία'' in Greek) is an ancient city of the Bruttii which was located in the southern part of Calabria, in present Taurianova, Reggio Calabria province. History Its ruins were located in the territory of Palmi. The city's name derives from the Italic peoples who founded it, the ''Tauriani''. The city, which stood on the south bank of the river ''Metauros'' (probably ''Petrace''), marked the border of the territory of Reggio Calabria on the Tyrrhenian coast north-west, which began more than that of Locri. Later Roman and later Byzantine Tauriana was destroyed by the Saracens in the middle of the 10th century. Palmi (; scn, label= Reggino, Parmi; la, Palmae) is a ''comune'' (municipality) of about 19,303 inhabitants in the province of Reggio Calabria in Calabria. It is seat of the district, which includes 33 municipalities in the plain of Palmi, with a population of approximately 170,000 inhabitants. With the nearby beaches of Marina di Palmi and Lido di Palmi, overlooking the Violet coast, the city is a major seaside resort thanks to its landscape, which has led writers and poets to call it the "terrace on the Strait of Messina". Taurianova
Taurianova is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the southern Italian region Calabria, located about southwest of Catanzaro and about northeast of Reggio Calabria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 15,933 and an area of .All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat. It was the site of the Italic city of Tauriana, a former Catholic bishopric, which was nominally restored as titular see Tauriano. The Apostolic Vicariate of Luang Prabang ( la, Vicariatus Apostolicus Luangensis Prabangensis) is a Latin rite jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Laos.
