Tatu Mussa Ntimizi
Tatu Mussa Ntimizi is a former Member of parliament, Member of Parliament in the National Assembly (Tanzania), Tanzanian National Assembly who represented the constituency of Igalula, Tanzania, Igalula in the Uyui District of the Tabora Region. She is a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi revolutionary party. Biography From 1990 to 1995, Ntimizi served as a Special Seat, special-seat MP in the National Assembly. A total of 113 of these special seats are available in the assembly, and are reserved for female representatives to ensure a certain percentage of the assembly consists of women. After her term ended, however, Ntimizi ran for and won a constituency seat in the 1995 Tanzanian general election, 1995 general election. In the 2000 Tanzanian general election, 2000 and 2005 Tanzanian general election, 2005 elections, she successfully won reelection for a second and third time. The National Assembly of Tanzania ( sw, Bunge la Tanzania) and the President of Tanzania of the United Republic make up the Parliament of Tanzania. The current Speaker of the National Assembly is Tulia Ackson, who presides over a unicameral assembly of 393 members. History The National Assembly of Tanzania was formed as the Legislative Council of Tanzania Mainland – then known as Tanganyika – in 1926. The Council was formed under a law enacted by the British Parliament called the Tanganyika Legislative Council Order and Council. The law was gazetted in Tanganyika on 18 June 1926. The Council consisted of 20 members when it was formed on 7 December 1926 under the Chairmanship of the Governor of Tanganyika, Sir Donald Cameron. The first Speaker was appointed to replace the Governor as the Chairman of the Council in 1953. The office of Speaker was first occupied on 1 November 1953.
