Tatra K3R-N
The Tatra K3R-N is a Czech Republic, Czech three-unit semi-low-floor tram. It was created as a modernization of the Tatra K2 tram by for the . Two trams were modernized in this way between 2002 and 2004, and two more trams were produced from scratch in 2006. History The trend of introducing low-flood trams and obsolescence of existing two-unit Tatra K2 trams forced the Brno City Transport Company to carry out renovations of the K2. The company Pars Nova submitted an offer to the Brno City Transport Company for refurbishment of existing trams along with the addition of a third unit. The refurbishment resulted in the creation of a new high-capacity vehicle, approaching the capacity of the Tatra KT8D5 tram. Tatra K2
The Tatra K2 was the first production articulated tramcar built by ČKD Tatra between 1966 and 1983, following the failure of the experimental prototypes Tatra K1, K1 which never entered production. It was noted that the main problem with the K1 was with the new electrical equipment, and therefore the electrical equipment of the Tatra T3, T3 (TR 37) was modified and incorporated into the new K2 (UA 12). The prototype entered service in 1966 as Prague tramcar number 7001, where it spent only a short spell, then it was exhibited at MSV 1966 in Brno (International Engineering Trade Fair) with the number 7000, before being transferred to Most (Most District), Most, and then again moved to Brno (1968), where it at first had number 607 and later in the year 1969 it was changed to 1007. Tatra KT8D5
Tatra KT8D5 is a bidirectional light rail vehicle currently ( , and not expected to retire soon) operating in Europe and Asia. In several variations, it was designed and manufactured by Czech engineering corporation ČKD Tatra from 1984 to 1999 and a total of 206 cars were sold. The vehicle has an angular design similar to Tatra T6A5 and Tatra KT4 both outside and inside. During its production period, several versions of KT8D5 were sold. History The need for new generation vehicles for Czechoslovakia started in late 1970s. The original goal was to make a light rail vehicle with a higher capacity to meet growing demands for public transport. The Brno tramway network ( cz, Tramvajová doprava v Brně, simply Tramvaje v Brně) was the first network of its kind to be put into operation in what is now known as the Czech Republic with its horse tram lines dating back to 1869.
