Tateyama Station (Chiba)
is a passenger railway station in the city of Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Lines Tateyama Station is served by the Uchibō Line, and is located 85.9 km from the terminus of the line at Soga Station. Station layout The station consists of one side platform and one island platforms serving three tracks. The station has a ''Midori no Madoguchi'' staffed ticket office. Platforms History The station opened on May 24, 1919, as on what was then called the Hōjō Line. The Hōjō Line was merged with the Bōsō Line in 1927. The station was renamed to its current name on March 1, 1946. Scheduled freight operations were suspended from November 15, 1982. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987. A new station building was completed in March 1999. The abbreviated JNR or , was the business entity that operated Japan's national railway network from 1949 to 1987. Chiba-Chūō Station
is a railway station operated by the Keisei Electric Railway located in Chūō-ku, Chiba Japan. It is from the terminus of the Keisei Chiba Line at Keisei-Tsudanuma Station and is a terminal station for the Keisei Chihara Line. History Chiba-Chūō Station was opened on July 17, 1921 as . This was renamed on 18 November 1931. The station burned down during the Chiba Air Raid of July 6, 1945. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location.
