Tariq Ahmed
Tariq Ahmed (born 1 January 1981, in Rangpur City, Rangpur, Bangladesh) is a first-class cricketer who has played in the National Cricket League in Bangladesh since 2008–09. A middle-order batsman, he played for Chittagong Division cricket team, Chittagong Division in 2008-09 and Barisal Division cricket team, Barisal Division in 2010–11, but when the Rangpur Division cricket team, Rangpur Division team was formed in 2011 he returned to Rangpur as captain of the new team. He was not reappointed captain after 2011–12, but has remained with Rangpur Division as a player. His highest score is 102 for Rangpur Division in his last first-class match, against Dhaka Division cricket team, Dhaka Division in 2015–16. Rangpur (, ; bn, রংপুর , Rongpur, City of Colour) is one of the major cities in Bangladesh and Rangpur Division. Rangpur was declared a district headquarters on December 16, 1769, and established as a municipality in 1869, making it one of the oldest municipalities in Bangladesh. The National Cricket League is the oldest domestic first-class cricket competition in Bangladesh. It is contested by teams representing seven of the eight regional divisions of Bangladesh (there is no team from Mymensingh Division) as well as a team from the Dhaka metropolitan area. Chottogram Division cricket team represents the Chittagong Division, one of the seven administrative regions in Bangladesh. The team was founded in 1999 to compete in the National Cricket League (NCL) and plays first-class cricket. For the short-lived National Cricket League Twenty20 in 2010, the team adopted the name Cyclones of Chittagong (often abbreviated as CC). The equivalent team in the Bangladesh Premier League is the Chittagong Vikings (qv), replacing the Chittagong Kings. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams.
