Target was a Southern rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, who formed in the early 1970s. The band consisted of singer Jimi Jamison, guitarists Buddy Davis and Paul Cannon, Tommy Cathey on bass, and drummer David Spain. Southern rock is a subgenre of rock music and a genre of Americana. It developed in the Southern United States from rock and roll, country music, and blues and is focused generally on electric guitars and vocals. Author Scott B. ZZ Top
ZZ Top is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. For 51 years, they comprised vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and vocalist-bassist Dusty Hill, until Hill's death in 2021. ZZ Top developed a signature sound based on Gibbons' blues guitar style and Hill and Beard's rhythm section. They are popular for their live performances, sly and humorous lyrics, and the matching appearances of Gibbons and Hill, who wore sunglasses, hats and long beards. Styx () is an American rock band from Chicago that formed in 1972 and is best known for melding hard rock guitar balanced with acoustic guitar, synthesizers mixed with acoustic piano, upbeat tracks with power ballads, and incorporating elements of international musical theatre. Jimmy Wayne Jamison (August 23, 1951 – September 1, 2014) was an American singer. Best known as Jimi Jamison, he earned recognition as the frontman for the rock bands Target (American band), Target, Cobra (American band), Cobra, and Survivor (band), Survivor from 1984 to 1989, performing the songs "Burning Heart (song), Burning Heart" from the film ''Rocky IV'', "The Moment of Truth (Survivor song), The Moment of Truth" from ''The Karate Kid'', along with other top-20 Survivor hits "I Can't Hold Back", "High on You (Survivor song), High On You", "The Search Is Over" and "Is This Love (Survivor song), Is This Love". Sister Rosetta Tharpe (born Rosetta Nubin, March 20, 1915 – October 9, 1973) was an American singer and guitarist.
