Tardoire
The Tardoire () is a river in southwestern France, left tributary to the river Bonnieure. It is long. Its source is in Châlus, in the Haute-Vienne ''département''. It flows into the Bonnieure near Saint-Ciers-sur-Bonnieure. Over much of its length, the Tardoire flows underground. Its largest tributary is the Bandiat. Bandiat
The Bandiat () is a small river in western France, a left tributary of the Tardoire. It flows through the Haute-Vienne, Dordogne and Charente departments. It is long. Geography The Bandiat begins its course just south of the Puy Chauvet (488 m), at roughly 440 m above sea level, near the settlement of Grand Puyconnieux (commune of Dournazac) in the Haute-Vienne department. The river flows first to the southwest and then turns northwest in the Dordogne and, at high water level, empties into the Tardoire (Charente (river), Charente basin) near Agris in the Charente. Otherwise, the river disappears near Les Vieilles Vaures (commune of Agris) about 5 km before reaching the Tardoire. All the water drains away in several sinkholes in the Karst topography, karst only to reappear near Angoulême as Spring (hydrosphere), springs of the river Touvre (river), Touvre, a tributary of the Charente (river), Charente. Châlus
Châlus (; oc, Chasluç) is a commune in the Haute-Vienne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in western France. History Richard I, King of England was besieging Châlus in 1199 when Pierre Basile wounded him with a crossbow bolt; Richard died of the wound. In 1275-1280, Géraud de Maumont built a second castle, Châlus Maulmont, in front of Châlus Chabrol. Chateau Châlus Maulmont was damaged extensively during the French Revolution, and was dismantled in 1790, then used as a prison. The tower of Châlus Maulmont collapsed on March 20, 1994. By 1745, the first map, in the 1/8628th, of Châlus is established to appear in the atlas of Trudaine for the majority of Limoges, with the portion of road at the level of La-Ribière going to Châlus of the Big road from Limoges to Périgueux and with the portion of road reaching the majority of Périgord.
