Taoyuan Main Public Library
Taoyuan Main Public Library () is the central library of Taoyuan, Taiwan. It is located on Nanping Road, Taoyuan District, and it is a part of Taoyuan Zhongzheng Arts and Cultural Business District. The main library was estimated to be completed by the end of 2021, and it began trial operation on December 17th, 2022. It is the largest local public library and the fourth largest public library in Taiwan by total area, after National Central Library, National Taiwan Library and National Library of Public Information. Architecture Old building The former building of Taoyuan Main Public Library was located in the Department of Cultural Affairs building of Taoyuan City Government. Taoyuan District (), formerly known as Taoyuan City () prior to the establishment of the special municipality of Taoyuan in 2014, is a district of Taoyuan City in northwestern Taiwan. The National Library of Public Information () is a public library in South District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The library was established in 1923 as Taichu Prefectural Library. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945 and Taiwan became the province of the republic, the library was named Taiwan Provincial Taichung Library from March 1946 until June 1999. Founded in 1914, the library is home to a large collection of documents concerning the history, culture, politics and geography of Taiwan.
