Tanto Tempo
''Tanto Tempo'' (lit. "So Much Time") is an album by Brazilian bossa nova singer Bebel Gilberto. Tanto Tempo was produced by Serbian producer Suba and co-produced by Béco Dranoff for the Ziriguiboom imprint of Crammed Discs. Suba died from smoke inhalation while saving the newly recorded album from a studio fire. The album was included in the book ''1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die''. Brazilian electronic artist Amon Tobin's "Nova", from the album ''Permutation'', is the backing track of "Samba da Benção". Commercial performance In 2011 it was awarded a platinum certification from the Independent Music Companies Association which indicated sales of at least 400,000 copies throughout Europe. Bossa Nova
Bossa nova () is a style of samba developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is mainly characterized by a "different beat" that altered the harmonies with the introduction of unconventional chords and an innovative syncopation of traditional samba from a single rhythmic division. The "bossa nova beat" is characteristic of a samba style and not of an autonomous genre. According to the Brazilian journalist Ruy Castro, the bossa beat – which was created by the drummer Milton Banana – was "an extreme simplification of the beat of the samba school", as if all instruments had been removed and only the tamborim had been preserved. Norman Gimbel
Norman Gimbel (November 16, 1927 – December 19, 2018) was an American lyricist of popular songs, television and movie themes. He wrote the lyrics for songs including "Killing Me Softly with His Song", " Ready to Take a Chance Again" (both with composer Charles Fox) and "Canadian Sunset". He also wrote English-language lyrics for many international hits, including " Sway", " Summer Samba", "The Girl from Ipanema", " How Insensitive", " Drinking-Water", "Meditation", "I Will Wait for You" and "Watch What Happens". Paulo Sérgio Valle
Paulo Sérgio Kostenbader Valle (born August 6, 1940) is a Brazilian composer and lyricist. Career Valle started his career as part of the bossa nova trend when, with his brother Marcos Valle, he composed " Samba de Verão", which became one of the three Brazilian songs to become global hits along with "The Girl from Ipanema" and "Aquarela do Brasil." After this, Valle went on to write lyrics for various other composers, becoming one of the most important lyricists in a number of genres. He also became a successful jingle-writer as well. ''Permutation'' is the third studio album by Brazilian electronic music producer Amon Tobin. It was released on 1 June 1998 by Ninja Tune. Composition The songs "Like Regular Chickens" and "People Like Frank" sample dialogue from, respectively, the David Lynch films ''Eraserhead'' (1977) and '' Blue Velvet'' (1986); the latter song also samples portions of Angelo Badalamenti's score for ''Blue Velvet''. Release ''Permutation'' was released by the Ninja Tune label on 1 June 1998. Kevin Foakes, credited under the alias Openmind, contributed photography to and designed the album's packaging.
