Taneli Kuusisto (19 June 1905 – 30 March 1988) was a Finnish composer, Music critics, music critic, teacher and choir leader. His son is composer Ilkka Kuusisto, and his grandsons composer Jaakko Kuusisto and musician Pekka Kuusisto. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Many composers are, or were, also skilled performers of music. Etymology and Definition The term is descended from Latin, ''compōnō''; literally "one who puts together". Ilkka Taneli Kuusisto (born 26 April 1933) is a Finnish people, Finnish composer of popular opera and father of Jaakko Kuusisto and Pekka Kuusisto. Jaakko Kuusisto
Jaakko Ilkka Kuusisto (17 January 1974 – 23 February 2022) was a Finnish violinist, composer, and conductor. Education After initial studies under Géza Szilvay and , Kuusisto went on to win the 1989 , place 4th in the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition the following year, and share the 2nd prize in the 1996 Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition, among others. Kuusisto studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, majoring in violin, as well as at Indiana University under Miriam Fried. Career As a violinist, Kuusisto has appeared in 30 recordings, of which at least 17 credited as a primary artist, performing works from composers such as Sibelius, Prokofiev, Kalevi Aho and Armas Järnefelt; as a conductor, he has recorded a dozen times. Pekka Kuusisto (born 7 October 1976 in Espoo) is a Finnish musician. Biography Kuusisto comes from a musical lineage. His first violin teacher was Geza Szilvay at the East Helsinki Music Institute in East Helsinki. ''Ihmiset suviyössä'' (''People in the Summer Night'') is a Finnish film from 1948. Directed by Valentin Vaala, it is based on Frans Eemil Sillanpää's 1934 novel of the same title. Plot The film concentrates on the destinies of a small group of people during one summer night. All events in the film are told from two different perspectives. During the night people are falling in love, fighting drunk, dying, and being born. Nature is just as important a part of the movie as the actors are. The novelist Sillanpää himself had told Vaala to keep in mind that there should be only one main character, and that is the summer night. Reception ''Ihmiset suviyössä'' received mostly positive reviews from Finnish critics. They especially praised Eino Heino's cinematography, stating that such beautiful and sensitive capturing of Finnish nature had never before been seen in domestic films.
