Tandarra
''Tandarra'' is an Australian television series which screened on the Seven Network in Australia in 1976 and on ITV (including the London Weekend Television and Anglia regions) in the UK. It was a follow-up series to '' Cash and Company'' which screened in 1975 and consisted of 13 one-hour episode. ''Tandarra'' and ''Cash and Company'' were set during the Victorian gold rush period of the 1850s. The change in format and title was necessitated by the departure of Serge Lazareff who played the title character Sam Cash in the original series ''Cash and Company''. Two of the original characters continued in ''Tandarra'': Joe Brady (Gus Mercurio) and Jessica Johnson (Penne Hackforth-Jones). The other main character was Ryler (Gerard Kennedy). who had been introduced in the final episode of ''Cash and Company''. Augustino Eugenio Mercurio (10 August 19287 December 2010) better known as Gus Mercurio, was an American-born Australian character actor who appeared in radio, television, and film. Early life Mercurio, the eldest child of Vincent A. Mercurio and Cecilia W. "Mickey" Miller, was born in West Bend, Wisconsin near Milwaukee. ''Cash and Company'' is an Australian television period adventure series, which screened on the Seven Network in Australia in 1976 and on ITV (including the London Weekend Television and Anglia regions) in the UK. The series was set during the Victorian gold rush of the 1850s. The original series consisted of 13 one-hour episodes, filmed in colour and on location in Emu Bottom Plans, Victoria. Penne Hackforth-Jones (5 August 194917 May 2013) was an American-born Australian actress and biographer. Early life Penelope Beatrix Hackforth-Jones was born in August 1949 in Greenwich, Connecticut, to Paul and Susan Felicity (née Gullett) Hackforth-Jones and was a granddaughter of Sir Henry Gullett and niece of Jo Gullett, both Australian politicians. She lived with her family in England before relocating to Australia in 1964. Patrick Edgeworth
Patrick Edgeworth (born 25 December 1932 in London) is an English stage and screenwriter. Early life Edgeworth grew up in England. In 1969, he arrived in Australia to be best man at the wedding of his pianist brother Ron and Judith Durham, former lead singer of The Seekers. He remained in Australia. Television Edgeworth began working as an actor for film and television, mostly in the police dramas made by Crawford Productions. In 1971, after submitting a script to them, he was offered a position as writer on Matlock Police, which he initially declined, as it would have meant forgoing acting. However, when he compared his recent earnings as an actor to what he was being offered as a staff writer, he opted for writing. After writing eighteen episodes in eighteen months at Crawfords he left, and with co-producer Russell Hagg, formed a production company, Homestead Films.
