Tampereen Pyrintö (basketball)
Tampereen Pyrintö, more commonly referred to as shortly Pyrintö, is a Finnish basketball team from Tampere. It is the basketball section of a club with the same name. Pyrintö's men's and women's teams play in Korisliiga, the highest tier of Finnish basketball. After 2010 Pyrintö has participated internationally in the EuroChallenge and the Baltic Basketball League. Korisliiga
The Korisliiga is the top-tier professional basketball league in Finland, comprising the top 12 teams of the country. In its current format, each team plays all other teams two times in the regular season, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 regular season games. The top six teams advances continues to upper stage and the bottom six teams plays lower stage after 22 games, 5 games at home and 5 games at away versus all other teams in stage. The best two teams from lower group joins to playoffs with upper group teams. Playoffs are played best of seven format, except the quarter-finals which are played best of 5 format. Pantterit holds the record for the most league titles won, with 14. The top level Finnish league for women is the Naisten Korisliiga. Ashante D. Johnson (born May 12, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player who played the majority of his 10-year career in Europe. College career After graduating from San Diego's Scripps Ranch High School in 1995, Johnson joined the Utah Utes men's basketball team where he redshirted the 1995–96. He played out his freshman season at Utah in 1996–97 before transferring to Cañada College in Redwood City, California, for his sophomore season in 1997–98. Heino Enden
Heino Enden (born 13 December 1959 in Tallinn) is a retired Estonian professional basketball player who played mostly at the shooting guard position. Basketball career His most notable achievements include winning the World Championship as a member of the Soviet Union team in the 1982 in Bogota, Colombia and the gold, silver and bronze medals with the same team in the 1983, 1985 and 1987 EuroBasket competitions. Topias Palmi (born August 26, 1994) is a Finnish professional basketball player who last played for Limburg United of the BNXT League. A 194 cm tall guard, Palmi last played for Vanoli Cremona of the LBA. In 2013 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship Division B game against Luxembourg, Palmi scored 60 points and broke the old record of any Finnish national basketball team with 17 points margin. Mikko Koskinen (born 18 July 1988) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey goaltender. Koskinen was drafted in the second round, 31st overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.
