Tampa Bay Library Consortium
'Tampa Bay Library Consortium'', Inc. (TBLC), with headquarters in Tampa, Florida, is a nonprofit library cooperative that assists hundreds of libraries in the Central and West Florida regions. TBLC serves public libraries, academic libraries, school libraries and special libraries. The TBLC membership serves 6.3 million people in the State of Florida. Mission Statement The mission statement for the TBLC is, "the TBLC is a community of libraries and the people who work in them committed to collaboration and bettering Floridians’ lives through continuously improving library services. Academic Libraries
An academic library is a library that is attached to a higher education institution and serves two complementary purposes: to support the curriculum and the research of the university faculty and students. NEFLIN
NEFLIN, the Northeast Florida Library Information Network, is one of five non-profit library cooperatives committed to serving libraries throughout Florida. NEFLIN formed as a result of librarians in North Florida wanting to collaborate on resources and services for patrons. An LSCA grant in 1992 provided the means for a feasibility study, which revealed the need for a cooperative library organization through the report "A Plan for Northeast Florida Library Information Network (NEFLIN)." Established in 1992, NEFLIN's members employ 2,720 services 550 public, academic, school, and specialized libraries located within its 24 county service area, which serves over 4 million people.
