Tamil Thai Valthu
Tamil Thai Valthu (; ) is the state anthem of Tamil Nadu. The song was written by Manonmaniam Sundaram Pillai, and composed by M. S. Viswanathan. Ever since the Tamil Nadu government under M. Karunanidhi issued an order on 23 November 1970, the official functions of the Government of Tamil Nadu, and those functions organised by educational institutions and public establishments, have started with this song, and ended with the Indian National Anthem. The song is sung daily in schools all over Tamil Nadu during the assembly in the morning. On 17 December, 2021, the Tamil Nadu government under chief minister M.K.Stalin, formally declared the song as the official state song, stating that it would be sung at all public events in educational institutes and government offices. Emblem Of Tamil Nadu
The Emblem of Tamil Nadu is the official state emblem of Tamil Nadu and is used as the official state symbol of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It consists of the Lion Capital of Ashoka without the bell lotus foundation and flanked on either side by an Indian flag. Behind the capital, is the image of a ''Gopuram'' or temple tower based on the Srivalliputhur Temple. Designing The state emblem was designed in 1949 by artist R. Krishna Rao who was a native of Madurai. Krishna Rao was honoured with awards and titles for his contribution to the state. A student of the Government College of Fine Arts and Crafts in Chennai, who went on to become the principal of the college later, Rao was approached to design the emblem in 1948, when he was a professor of applied arts in the college. Manonmaniam Sundaram Pillai
Manonmaniyam P. Sundaranar (4 April 1855 – 26 April 1897) was an Indian scholar, noted for the famous Tamil drama '' Manonmaniyam''. as well as the state song of Tamil Nadu Tamil Thai Valthu. Career Sundaram showed his respect for Harvey, a Scottish Professor of Philosophy and English at The ''Maharaja's College'', by dedicating his drama ''Manonmaniyam'' to him, and naming his farmhouse after him. Together they wrote the book, ''Some Early Sovereigns of Travancore''. The MDT Hindu College, Tirunelveli, of which he was the first Principal, describes his works as follows: He established Saiva Prakasha Sabha at Trivandram in 1885. He taught Swami Vivekananda about the Saiva Sidhantham. In 1885, he published ''Chathira Saugiragam'', commonly known as ''Nootrogai Villakkam''. "" (Sanskrit: जन गण मन) is the national anthem of the Republic of India. It was originally composed as '' Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata'' in Bengali by polymath Rabindranath Tagore. The first stanza of the song ''Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata'' was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950. Flag Of Tamil Nadu
At present there is no official flag for the state of Tamil Nadu in India. A flag was proposed for the state in 1970 but was not formally adopted at that time. 1970 flag proposal The Government of Tamil Nadu proposed a design for a state flag in 1970. The proposed design was grey with the flag of India in the canton and the Emblem of Tamil Nadu in the fly. It was proposed by newly elected Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. At the time the proposal was opposed by the Chief Ministers of several other states and it was not officially adopted. Government banner The Government of Tamil Nadu can be represented by an image of the emblem of the state placed onto a white background. Tamil Thai
Tamil Thai () refers to the allegorical and sometimes anthropomorphic personification of the Tamil language as a mother. This allegory of the Tamil language in the persona of a mother was established during the Tamil renaissance movement of the latter half of the nineteenth century. The concept became popular in the Tamil-speaking world after the publication of a song invoking and praising Tamil mother in a play titled, "Manonmaniyam", written by Manonmaniam Sundaram Pillai (1855 – 1897) and published in 1891. Under the auspices of the DMK, the Tamil Thai Valthu, with music composed by M.S. Viswanathan, has since been adopted as the state song of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Thai Valthu ( ta, தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து; "Prayer to Mother Tamil"), also known by the song's incipit, is the state song of the Indian union territory of Puducherry. It was written by famous poet Bharathidasan. The song was first sung in various tunes. But in the year 1991, music director L. Krishnan set the music and tune for the song, which at present sung mostly. Generally official functions of the Government of Puducherry start with this song and end with "Jana Gana Mana". Vande Mataram
''Vande Mataram'' (Sanskrit: वन्दे मातरम् IAST: , also spelt ''Bande Mataram''; বন্দে মাতরম্, ''Bônde Mātôrôm''; ) is a poem written in sanskritised Bengali by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in the 1870s. The first two verses of the poem were adopted as the National Song of India in October 1937 by the Congress. The poem was first published in 1882 as part of Chatterjee's Bengali novel '' Anandmath''. It is an ode to the motherland, personified as the "mother goddess" is later verses, of the people. This initially referred to Bengal, with the "mother" figure therefore being Banga Mata (Mother Bengal), though the text does not mention this explicitly.
