The Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPF; ta, தமிழ் முற்போக்கு கூட்டணி ''Tamiḻ Muṟpōkku Kūṭṭaṇi'') is a Sri Lankan political alliance. It was formed in 2015 by the Democratic People's Front (DPF), National Union of Workers (Sri Lanka), National Union of Workers (NUW) and the Up-Country People's Front (UCPF) to represent the 1.5 million Tamil people, Tamils, mostly Indian Tamils of Sri Lanka, Indian Tamils, living outside the Northern Province, Sri Lanka, Northern and Eastern Province, Sri Lanka, Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, provinces. Mano Ganesan
Akilan Manoharan Ganesan (born 17 December 1959) is a Sri Lankan trade unionist, politician and government minister. He is the leader of the Democratic People's Front (DPF) and Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), members of the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG). Early life Ganesan was born on 17 December 1959. He is a son of V. P. Ganesan, trade unionist and film producer, and brother of Praba Ganesan, former Member of Parliament. Career Ganesan is president of the Democratic Workers Congress trade union. He contested the 1999 provincial council election as one of the Indian Origin People's Front's candidates in Colombo District and was elected to the Western Provincial Council. United National Party

2015 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Sri Lanka on 17 August 2015, ten months ahead of schedule, to elect 225 members to Sri Lanka's 15th Parliament. The United National Party (UNP) led United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) won 106 seats, an increase of 46 since the 2010 election, but failed to secure a majority in Parliament. The United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) won 95 seats, a decline of 49. The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), the largest party representing Sri Lankan Tamils, won 16 seats, an increase of two from 2010. The remaining eight seats were won by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (6), Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (1) and Eelam People's Democratic Party (1).
