Tamer II
''Tamer II'', a custom sailing yacht was built by Jongert in Medemblik, the Netherlands. The ship was delivered in 1986 and last refitted in 2015. Peter Sijm designed the exterior and interior. Naval architect was Doug Peterson. ''Tamer II'' offers accommodation for up to eight guests. In addition, it can carry up to five crew. ''Tamer II'' is not available for charter. Refit In 2015 Jongert completed the 18-month refit. The project started in December 2013 and was initially scheduled to take around 10 months to finish, but during the project the scope of work tripled. All of the yacht's technical spaces have been emptied, sandblasted, spot-repaired, isolated, painted and re-equipped. Jongert
Jongert is a shipyard specialized in the building of sailing yachts, located in Wieringerwerf, Netherlands. History The shipyard was established by Jan Jongert, Sr., in Medemblik in 1953 and produced sailing yachts between and in length. Between 1970 and 1994 the yard exported cumulatively in excess of half a billion guilders worth of yachts. Most of the later vessels were designed by Tony Castro and built from steel or aluminium. Jongert went bankrupt in 2009, then restarted under the ownership of VEKA. In 2015 the company went bankrupt again. In 2016 the company is active. On January 19, 2017, they announced they found a new investor, following the failed takeover of the yard by Acico. Together with the Vripack design studio they are working on a motor yacht project. Gross Tonnage
Gross tonnage (GT, G.T. or gt) is a nonlinear measure of a ship's overall internal volume. Gross tonnage is different from gross register tonnage. Neither gross tonnage nor gross register tonnage should be confused with measures of mass or weight such as deadweight tonnage or Displacement (ship), displacement. Gross tonnage, along with net tonnage, was defined by the ''International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships, 1969'', adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1969, and came into force on 18 July 1982. Medemblik
Medemblik () is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia. It lies immediately south of the polder and former municipality of Wieringermeer. History Medemblik was a prosperous trading town, when in 1282, Floris V, Count of Holland, successfully invaded West Friesland. He built several fortresses to control the region, one of which was Kasteel Radboud in Medemblik, and awarded Medemblik city rights in 1289. Doug Peterson (yacht Designer)
Douglas Blair Peterson (July 25, 1945 – June 26, 2017) was an American yacht designer. Beginning with the One Tonner '' Ganbare'' in 1973, Peterson's designs have pioneered many innovations in racing and cruising yachts. In the mid-1970s, Peterson's designs dominated offshore racing events, with a string of winning high-profile IOR boats. Designed for Jack Kelly Yachts, the Peterson 44 debuted in 1976. This boat was a pioneer in performance cruising yacht design and one can still see many of the over 200 built in ports around the world. The design was followed by the Kelly Peterson 46 of which 30 were built. Hull number 30, the last one built, completed a circumnavigation of the globe in 2017.
