Tamara Barnett-Herrin
Tamara Barnett-Herrin is an English singer-songwriter, who has sung with the group Freeform Five on the album ''Strangest Things'' which was released in 2005. A later project is the ''Calendar Songs'' album, an internet-based collaborative CC BY-NC-licensed project released in early 2008. Barnett-Herrin contributed vocals to "State of Permission", an album track on Shinichi Osawa's 2007 album, ''The One''. Performance In 2010, Barnett-Herrin collaborated with artist Mai-Thu Perret on two projects. 'The Ballad of a Russian Doll', with Nigel Hoyle, a performance at Migros Museum, Zurich for the exhibition 'While Bodies Get Mirrored'; and the prizewinning short film ''In Darkness Let Me Dwell'', created with the assistance of the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP) in Lausanne. Freeform Five is an English electronic group led by DJ, producer, and songwriter Anu Pillai. Biography It was his remix of Isolee’s "Beau Mot Plage" in 1999 that alerted many to this group. The Freeform Five DJ mix albums ''Bisous Bisous II'' and ''Misch Masch'' were released in 2005 and 2006. Over the years, Anu has remixed tracks for artist such as N*E*R*D, Brian Wilson, X-Press 2 and David Byrne, Jamie Lidell, Justin Timberlake, Felix Da Housecat and The Killers. Freeform Five continue to perform at clubs like Fabric (London), Manumission (Ibiza), Week End (Berlin), Razz (Barcelona), Paris Paris (Paris), Lux (Lisbon) and tours in Australia, Scandinavia, North America, Mexico, Brazil and Japan. ''Destroy Rock & Roll'' is the first and only album by Scottish record producer and DJ Mylo (real name Myles MacInnes), released in 2004. The album samples many 1970s and 1980s soft rock songs that Mylo heard on the radio as a child. The single " In My Arms" combines hits by Kim Carnes and Boy Meets Girl. The title track samples a fundamentalist Christian sermon, while "Drop the Pressure" is based around a vocal recording made by Mylo himself and edited with a vocoder. The album was re-released in 2005, and peaked at number 26 on the UK Albums Chart. The re-released contained a new remix of "Drop the Pressure", called "Doctor Pressure" (vs. Miami Sound Machine), which was also a number 3 single. Magnatune is an American independent record label based in Berkeley, California, founded in spring 2003. It only sold music for download through its website but added a print-CD-on-demand service in late 2004 and in October 2007 began selling complete albums and individual tracks through Amazon.com. In May 2008, Magnatune launched all-you-can-eat membership plans. From March 2010 Magnatune dropped the CD printing service and moved exclusively to all-you-can-eat membership plans. Magnatune was the first record label to license music online and as of May 2015 had sold over 7,000 licenses in its twelve years of existence. ccMixter is a produsage community music site that promotes remix culture and makes samples, remixes, and a cappella tracks licensed under Creative Commons available for download and re-use in creative works. A backing track is an audio recording on audiotape, CD or a digital recording medium or a MIDI recording of synthesized instruments, sometimes of purely rhythmic accompaniment, often of a rhythm section or other accompaniment parts that live musicians play along with or sing along to. Backing tracks enable singers and bands to add parts to their music which would be impractical or impossible to perform live, such as string section or choir parts which were recorded in the studio. Steven Parrino
Steven Parrino (1958–2005) was an American artist and musician associated with energetic punk nihilism. He is best known for creating big modernist monochrome paintings (his colors were limited to monochrome black (or black-and-white), orange, red, blue, and silver) that he violently slashed, torn or twisted off their stretchers. He died in a motorcycle traffic accident in Greenpoint, Brooklyn at the age of 46. Art work Parrino was born in New York City in 1958 and grew up on Long Island.
