Shyam Sunder Goenka was an Indian entrepreneur, who founded Bangalore-based Tally Solutions, one of India’s first software product companies. Early life and background He was born on 15 October 1932 in Kolkata in a Marwari family to parents Thakursi Das Goenka and Bhagwani Devi Goenka. Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax (or consumption tax) used in India on the supply of goods and services. It is a comprehensive, multistage, destination-based tax: comprehensive because it has subsumed almost all the indirect taxes except a few state taxes.
