Peter Thompson (broadcaster)
Peter Thompson (born 1952) is an Australian broadcast journalist and educator. He is a Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government and an adjunct professor at Macquarie University. He is director of the Centre for Leadership, a private consultancy on communication. Thompson was the presenter of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's ''Talking Heads'', a weekly biographical television program about the lives of prominent Australians, which began on ABC1 in 2005 and ended in 2010 after 238 episodes. Life and career Peter Thompson was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and was educated at St. Joseph's College, Hunters Hill and St Pius X College, Chatswood. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Australian National University in 1977, a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management in 1984 and a Masters of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School in 1987. ABC TV, formerly known as ABC1, is an Australian national public television network. It is owned and operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and is the flagship ABC Television network. The headquarters of the ABC TV channel and the ABC are in Ultimo, an inner-city suburb of Sydney, New South Wales. TV Tonight is an Australian-based website which features reviews, news and programming information related to television in Australia as well as OzTAM ratings information. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. Knox runs the site, publishing his interviews with Australian media actors, producers, directors and programmers. Knox regularly visits the sets of Australian television series and reviews television programs. Knox also served as television critic for Radio National's breakfast program from 2009 to 2015. Brisbane Powerhouse is an arts and cultural hub located in a former power station in the Brisbane suburb of New Farm, Queensland, Australia. The venue offers an array of performing arts, visual arts, festivals, and free community events. The first stage of the New Farm Powerhouse was built in 1927–28 as part of the growing need for Powerhouses for the Brisbane Trams.
