Taleena Simon
Taleena Simon (born 18 December 1992) is an Australian rugby league footballer who plays for the Sydney Roosters in the NRL Women's Premiership and the Glebe Dirty Reds in the NSWRL Women's Premiership. Playing career A Redfern All Blacks junior, Simon made her senior debut for the Guildford Owls in 2010. Following a shoulder injury, Simon switched codes to rugby union and joined the Australia women's national rugby sevens team in 2014, becoming the first Aboriginal woman to sign a full time professional contract with the program. In 2017, she returned to Rugby League, playing for the Redfern All Blacks in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership. In 2018, she played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership, taking out leading try-scorer for the season. Camperdown is an inner western suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. New Zealand Māori rugby league team is a rugby league representative side made up of New Zealand Māori players. The side represents the New Zealand Māori Rugby league. Like its union counterpart, the rugby league team previously competed in international competitions. With some controversy, the team participated in the 2000 World Cup as Aotearoa Māori. The Super League International Board had agreed to give a place in their World Cup to the New Zealand Māori team as they attempted to gain allies during the Super League war. The New Zealand Warriors are a professional rugby league football club based in Auckland, New Zealand that competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership and is the League's only team from outside Australia. They were formed in 1995 as the Auckland Warriors, and are officially known as the One New Zealand Warriors for sponsorship reasons. The Warriors are coached by Andrew Webster and captained by Tohu Harris. The Warriors are based at Mount Smart Stadium in the Auckland suburb of Penrose. For the 1995 season the newly formed Auckland Warriors became the first club from outside Australia to be admitted to the Australian Rugby League's premiership when it expanded from 16 to 20 teams. 2018 NRL Women's Season
The 2018 NRL Women's Premiership (NRLW) was the first season of professional women's rugby league in Australia. Teams Pre-season Only two of the four sides, the Brisbane Broncos and New Zealand Warriors, took part in pre-season trial games. The Warriors played two fixtures against a combined Auckland side, while the Broncos played the Papua New Guinea Orchids as a curtain-raiser to the Brisbane Broncos-Manly Sea Eagles NRL fixture.
