Takuya Muguruma (boxer)
__NOTOC__ is a retired Japanese boxer who is a former WBA bantamweight champion. He is an alumnus of the Kinki University. Muguruma became interested in boxing at the age of a junior high school student. In high school, he belonged to the rugby club. As Muguruma was a slow runner, he was a substitute player there. He began boxing at Osaka Teiken Boxing Gym after entering the University. Muguruma turned professional with an amateur record of 2–1 (1 KO), and made his debut with a second-round knockout victory on April 9, 1981. He won the annual Japanese boxing series, All-Japan Rookie King Tournament in the featherweight division in February 1982. He went down a weight division to capture the Japanese super bantamweight title in November 1983, and defended that title seven times in total before returning it. __NOTOC__ Park Chan-yong (born June 10, 1963 in Hwasun) is a South Korean former professional boxer who competed from 1980 to 1992. He held the WBA bantamweight title in 1987 and challenged for the WBC super-bantamweight title in 1989. Professional career Park began his professional career in 1980. On May 24, 1987, after amassing a career record of 24–3–2 with 7 knockouts, Chan-yong was given the opportunity to challenge reigning bantamweight champion, Takuya Muguruma, for his WBA version of the world championship Mugurma's hometown of Moriguchi, Osaka, Japan. A focus mitt is a padded target attached to a glove and usually used in training boxers and other combat athletes. The use of focus mitts is said to have come about as Muay Thai and Far Eastern martial arts made their way toward the United States in the late 1700s. The concept first began with using foot tongs or slippers on hands to absorb the impact from kicks and strikes. Modern day punch mitts came into more widespread use in the mid-1960s when Bruce Lee was seen using them in his training routines.
