Takeshis'
''Takeshis'' is a 2005 Japanese film directed, written, edited by, and starring Takeshi Kitano. It is the first film in Kitano's surrealist autobiographical trilogy, being followed by ''Glory to the Filmmaker!'', and '' Achilles and the Tortoise''. Film structure The original working title of ''Takeshis'' was ''Fractal'', suggesting the film's structure. The film has nested story-lines and depicts an '' 8½''-like identity crisis theme in autobiographical style. It is also strongly characterised by a series of surrealistic motifs linked by chance encounters. A prominent theme of the film is duality, as almost all the main characters appear in two forms or roles. is a 2007 Japanese film written, directed, edited by the film's lead star Takeshi Kitano. It is the second film in Kitano's surrealist autobiographical trilogy, following ''Takeshis''', and concluding with ''Achilles and the Tortoise''. Susumu Terajima
is a Japanese actor. Though he has played a wide range of characters, he is perhaps best known for his portrayal of ''yakuza'' figures, most notably in the films of Takeshi Kitano. Terajima made his acting debut in 1986's ''A Homansu''. He joined Japan Music Entertainment in December 2018. Early life Terajima was born in Fukagawa, downtown of Tokyo. He is the second son of three and his father was a tatami craftsman. His childhood memory was when he and his mother walking to kindergarten together and his teacher called him "mu-chan" because of his cute face. Ren Osugi
, born was a Japanese actor. For his work in ''Cure'', ''Hana-bi'' and other films, Osugi was given the Best Supporting Actor award at the 1999 Yokohama Film Festival. He often worked alongside Takeshi Kitano and Susumu Terajima. In the DVD commentary to the ''MPD Psycho'' television series, director Takashi Miike said that he admired Osugi's experience to shift quickly from comic and imbecilic to authoritative and earnest. He died of heart failure at the age of 66 on February 21, 2018. Achilles And The Tortoise (film)
is a 2008 Japanese film written, directed and edited by Takeshi Kitano. The film is the third and final part of Kitano's surrealist autobiographical trilogy, starting with ''Takeshis''' and continuing with ''Glory to the Filmmaker!'' The title ''Achilles and the Tortoise'' refers to the motion paradox by Greek philosopher Zeno of Elea, Achilles and the Tortoise. Plot Kitano plays Machisu, who is born into a wealthy family, but loses both his parents as a child. When his father (Akira Nakao) commits suicide after the collapse of his business, Machisu's stepmother (Mariko Tsutsui) sends him to live with an aunt and uncle who mistreat him and finally send him to an orphanage. Surrealism
