Takashi Yamamoto (swimmer)
is an Olympic medal-winning swimmer from Japan, who won the silver medal in the 200 m butterfly at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He was also part of Japan's bronze medal-winning 4 × 100 m medley relay team. Yamamoto also competed in the 100 m butterfly event, and qualified for the semifinals, but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final. The 2004 Games were Yamamoto's third Olympic Games. He had previously swum in the 1996 Olympic Games and 2000 Olympic Games, but did not receive a medal at either. He married swimmer Suzu Chiba Suzu Chiba (千葉 すず, born August 11, 1975 in Yokohama, Kanagawa) is a former freestyle swimmer from Japan. Takashi Yamamoto (politician)
was a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party of Japan, a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Ashiya, Hyōgo close to Osaka, he graduated from Shimizudani High school and Ritsumeikan University, and received a master's degree in sociology of the family from Michigan State University in the United States. From school days, he continued volunteer activity. After graduation, he served a non-profit organization "ASHINAGA" in Japan, like a " Daddy Long Legs" (traffic-accident orphaned child scholarship association). Yamamoto was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1993 as a member of Morihiro Hosokawa's Japan New Party but lost the seat in 2000. In 2001, he was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time.
