Takanomine Akihiko (born 23 January 1959 as Akihiko Okazaki) is a former sumo wrestler from Mizumaki, Fukuoka, Japan. He made his professional debut in September 1974 and reached the top division in May 1989. His highest rank was '' maegashira'' 12. Kimigahama Stable
was a Heya (sumo), stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Tokitsukaze group of stables. Its last incarnation was in existence from 1972 until 2019. The stable was established in the Meiji era by former ''yokozuna (sumo), yokozuna'' Nishinoumi Kajirō I, the 16th ''yokozuna (sumo), yokozuna'', who became the 7th Izutsu-''oyakata''. He was succeeded by Nishinoumi Kajirō II, the 25th ''yokozuna'' who ran the stable from 1909 until his death in 1931. The latest incarnation of Izutsu stable was in the hands of the same family, having been founded as Kimigahama stable by his grandson-in-law Tsurugamine Akio in 1972 and subsequently renamed Izutsu stable in 1977, after Tsurugamine obtained the stock from former ''yokozuna'' Kitanofuji (who would become the head of Kokonoe stable). Sumo
is a form of competitive full-contact wrestling where a ''rikishi'' (wrestler) attempts to force his opponent out of a circular ring (''dohyō'') or into touching the ground with any body part other than the soles of his feet (usually by throwing, shoving or pushing him down). Sumo originated in Japan, the only country where it is practiced professionally and where it is considered the national sport. It is considered a ''gendai budō'', which refers to modern Japanese martial arts, but the sport has a history spanning many centuries. Mizumaki, Fukuoka
is a town located in Onga District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Education Facilities Mizumaki has a train station on the Kagoshima Main Line, and another on the Fukuhoku Yutaka Line at Higashi-Mizumaki, both operated by Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu).
