Taiwan Alliance To Promote Civil Partnership Rights
The Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights (TAPCPR; ) is a Taiwanese non-governmental advocacy organization which advocates for the expansion of civil rights for same-sex couples, including same-sex marriage, civil partnerships, adoption rights, and other freedoms. It was founded in 2009 by the Awakening Foundation, Taiwan Tongzhi Hotline Association, and other LGBTQ+ rights organisations. Among initiatives carried out by TAPCPR are launching a million-signature petition drive for the legalization of same-sex unions, floating a draft bill for consideration by the Legislative Yuan, the Interior Ministry's recognition of transgender marriages, and taking a poll showing 50% support for same-sex marriage among Taiwanese people. Tsai Ing-wen
Tsai Ing-wen (; born 31 August 1956) is a Taiwanese politician serving as president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) since 2016. A member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Tsai is the first female president of Taiwan. She served as chair of the DPP from 2020 to 2022, and also previously from 2008 to 2012 and 2014 to 2018. Tsai grew up in Taipei and studied law and international trade, and later became a law professor at Soochow University School of Law and National Chengchi University after earning an LLB from National Taiwan University and an LLM from Cornell Law School. Taiwanese People
Taiwanese people may be generally considered the people of Taiwan who share a common culture, ancestry and speak Taiwanese Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka or indigenous Taiwanese languages as a mother tongue. Taiwanese people may also refer to the indigenous peoples of the areas under the control of the Government of the Republic of China since 1945, including Penghu as well as Kinmen and Matsu Islands that collectively form its streamlined Fujian Province (see Taiwan Area). Transgender
A transgender (often abbreviated as trans) person is someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Many transgender people experience dysphoria, which they seek to alleviate through transitioning, often adopting a different name and set of pronouns in the process. Additionally, they may undergo sex reassignment therapies such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery to more closely align their primary and secondary sex characteristics with their gender identity. Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system.
