Taichung Railway Station (TRA)
Taichung station () is a railway station in Taichung, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. It is served by all TRA services along the route. History The station was originally constructed in 1905 in a wooden building architectural style and started its operation in 1908. In 1917, it was rebuilt as a red brick structure with Renaissance architectural style. On 16 October 2016, the elevated station was inaugurated in which the ground-level station was shut down. The first train that arrived at the elevated station was at 06:28. Taiwan Railways Administration
Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. It is an agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1097 km of track in Taiwan. Since Taiwan is heavily urbanised with a high population density, railways have played an important part in domestic transportation since the late 19th century. Passenger traffic in 2018 was 231,267,955. The agency's headquarters are in Zhongzheng District, Taipei. Taiwan Sugar Railways
The Taiwan Sugar Railways is a industrial railway operated by the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. The railway was primarily used in the production of sugar by transporting sugarcane to mills, but some lines also provided passenger service. At its height, the Sugar Railways had an extensive network spanning of track, but since the Kuomintang's takeover of Taiwan in 1949, most of the infrastructure has been abolished and removed. The only line still used to carry sugarcane today is the Magongcuo Line in Huwei, Yunlin, though many other lines are preserved as heritage railways. History The Sugar Railways were initially constructed by Meiji Sugar Co., Ltd. during Japanese rule in the early 20th century and continued to operate well into the 1990s under the management of the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. Taichung Park
The Taichung Park () is an urban park in North District, Taichung, Taiwan. It is the oldest park in Taichung. It was built when Taiwan was under Japanese rule and is also called “Chungshan Park” (). History The park, originally called , was built in 1903 during the Japanese era. On 17 April 1999, Taichung City Government listed it as city historical sites. In recent years, people have celebrated Lantern Festival in Taichung Park. Features The park has an artificial lake which covers an area of 13,530 m2. It also has two adjacent pavilions in the lake which were built to commemorate the establishment of Crossway Railway in 1908. Facilities The park has facilities for kayaking in the lake, tennis court, outdoor platform and kids playground. The Taichung Confucian Temple () is a Confucian temple in North District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The construction of the temple began in 1972 and completed in 1976. The National Library of Public Information () is a public library in South District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The library was established in 1923 as Taichu Prefectural Library. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945 and Taiwan became the province of the republic, the library was named Taiwan Provincial Taichung Library from March 1946 until June 1999. In July 1999, it was renamed to National Taichung Library and it came under the jurisdiction of Council for Cultural Affairs. In January 2013, it was renamed National Library of Public Information. National Chung Hsing University (NCHU; ) is a research-led comprehensive university in South District, Taichung, Republic of China. Currently, NCHU is among the four universities of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System, a research-led university alliance in Taiwan. History The university was originally founded as Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry in Tainan in 1919. In 1928, the academy became a department affiliated to Taihoku Imperial University. In 1943, the department became an independent entity again and moved to Taichung. Jiji Station
Jiji () is a railway station on the Taiwan Railways Administration Jiji line located in Jiji Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. History The station was opened for operation on 14 January 1922 during Japanese rule which was mostly used for transporting materials to the nearby power plant. The station relocated to its current location on 2 February 1930. The station was severely damaged in the 1999 Jiji earthquake (921 earthquake) on 21 September 1999 and was reconstructed in 2001. Contactless smart card fare gates were installed at this station on 30 June 2015. Tainan () is a railway station in Tainan, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. Situated in centre of the old town square of Tainan, Tainan Station is the main station of the city and also one of the major stations along the western trunk line in Taiwan. The Shalun line, opened in 2011, allows through services to link the station with THSR Tainan Station. Overview The station has one island platform and one side platform. The current station structure opened on 15 March 1936, which included a hotel on the second floor (the only station of its kind in Taiwan). Changhua () is a railway station in Changhua City, Changhua County, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways. It is located at the southern junction of the Taichung line and Coastal line, where the line continues onto the southern section of the West Coast line.
