Taichung Metro
The Taichung MRT (also called Taichung Mass Rail Transit or Taichung Metro) is a rapid transit system in Taichung, Taiwan. In addition to Taichung, it may serve Changhua and Nantou counties in the future. Taichung Metro's first route, the Green Line, officially began operation on April 25, 2021, making it the 5th rapid transit system operating in Taiwan. History Planning of the Taichung MRT started in 1990 with a study conducted by the Taiwanese Bureau of Housing and Urban Development. The study was completed in 1998 and suggested the implementation of three routes (Red, Green, and Blue). The project was formally approved by the Executive Yuan of the ROC government on 23 November 2004. The city government signed a joint development contract with the Taipei City Government on 12 December 2007. Taichung City Government
The Taichung City Government () is the municipal government of Taichung, Taiwan. History Taichū City Government was established by the Governor-General of Taiwan and the Japanese colonial authorities on 1 October 1920. Following the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, Taichung had been reconstituted as a provincial city government on 25 October 1945. Taichung City merged with Taichung County to become a special municipality on 25 December 2010. Building The first Taichung city hall, known as Taichung Shiyakusho, was constructed in 1911, when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. It has been turned into a cultural center since 2016. Xinwuri Station
Xinwuri () is a railway station in Wuri District, Taichung, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways. It is connected to Taichung HSR station via a bridge, and also has a connection to Taichung HSR Station metro station. Overview The station consists of a large building linked to the HSR station via a bridge. There are automatic ticketing machines and ticketing staff, shops, and restaurants within the building. Bus stations and parking facilities are shared with the HSR station. Wufeng District
Wufeng District () is a suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. It is the location of Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council. Wufeng is a mainly agricultural town. It was heavily damaged by the Jiji earthquake on 21 September 1999, which caused around 100 deaths in the town. The 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, which commemorates the giant quake, is built at what was formerly Guangfu Junior High School, which was destroyed when part of the school was uplifted by the Chelungpu Fault during the quake. The Port of Taichung (), also Taichung Port, is a port located in Wuqi District, Taichung, Taiwan. It is the second-largest port in Taiwan after Kaohsiung Port and operated by Taiwan International Ports Corporation, Taiwan's state-owned harbor management company.
