Taia (band)
is a Japanese metal band from Okinawa, named after the Edgar Allan Poe poem "The Raven". History The band was formed in 1998, by college classmates; Taka, Yasha and Hakua, as an Iron Maiden cover band. Their original female drummer is the one who named the band. Fellow student Seika soon joined and they felt having a vocalist who had never listened to heavy metal before would make their music more interesting. In 2000, Taia released a self-titled demo and the following year a second, entitled "Sanctus". The group eventually found its current sound with the arrival of a keyboardist. In 2002, Taia won a prize with their song "Beware". In the same year Fuuga replaced the old keyboardist, and the band released their first single "Sorrow". In 2004 they released their second single, "Yumegatari". That same year, Taia went on their first tour in Tohoku, while Higa joined as second guitarist. Tiye
Tiye (c. 1398 BC – 1338 BC, also spelled Tye, Taia, Tiy and Tiyi) was the daughter of Yuya and Thuya. She became the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep III. She was the mother of Akhenaten and grandmother of Tutankhamun. In 2010, DNA analysis confirmed her as the mummy known as "The Elder Lady" found in the tomb of Amenhotep II ( KV35) in 1898. Family and early life Tiye's father, Yuya, was a non-royal, wealthy landowner from the Upper Egyptian town of Akhmim, where he served as a priest and superintendent of oxen or commander of the chariotry. Ibis The Invincible
Ibis the Invincible is a fictional character originally published by Fawcett Comics in the 1940s and then by DC Comics beginning in the 1970s. Like many magician superheroes introduced in the Golden Age of Comics, Ibis owes much to the popular comic strip character Mandrake the Magician. A second Ibis, successor of the first, was introduced in 2007. Publication history The original Ibis first appeared in ''Whiz Comics'' #2 (February 1940), and was created by Bob Kingett. When superheroes declined in popularity in the early 1950s, Ibis and the other Fawcett characters ceased publication. One Ibis story shortly thereafter was reprinted by Charlton Comics. The Fawcett characters were later licensed and eventually bought outright by DC Comics in the 1970s. Abdellah Taïa
Abdellah Taïa ( ar, عبد الله الطايع; born 1973) is a Moroccan writer and filmmaker who writes in the French language and has been based in Paris since 1998. He has published eight novels, many of them heavily autobiographical. His books have been translated into Basque, Dutch, German, English, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish, Danish and Arabic. Described by ''Interview Magazine'' as a "literary transgressor and cultural paragon," Taïa became the first openly gay Arab writer in 2006, and, as of 2014, he remains the only openly homosexual Moroccan writer or filmmaker. His first movie, ''Salvation Army'', is widely considered to have given Arab cinema "its first gay protagonist." Mapu Taia
Mapu Tangatatutai Taia (28 April 1939 - October 2015) was a Cook Islands politician. He served as Speaker of the Cook Islands Parliament from 2006 to 2010. He was a member of the Cook Islands Democratic Party and held the traditional title of Kakemaunga Mataiapo. Taia was born in Mauke in the Cook Islands and educated at Mauke Primary School, Avarua School, Nikao Maori School and Tereora College. He completed a teaching diploma at Nikao Teachers Training College in 1958, and later studied at the University of the South Pacific. He worked as a primary school teacher, then as a principal of Mitiaro School (1963–1971) and Mauke College (1972–1996). While a school principal he also became an oral historian. He retired after 40 years of teaching in 1996, and became a Justice of the Peace. Taia was elected to the Cook Islands Parliament as MP for Mauke in the 1999 election. Zeb Taia (born 11 October 1984) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played as a forward for both New Zealand and the Cook Islands at international level. He played for the Parramatta Eels, Newcastle Knights and the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL, and the Catalans Dragons and St Helens in the Super League. Teia
Teia (died 552 or 553 AD), also known as Teja, Theia, Thila, Thela, and Teias, was the last Ostrogothic King of Italy. He led troops during the Battle of Busta Gallorum and had noncombatant Romans slaughtered in its aftermath. In late 552/early 553, he was killed during the Battle of Mons Lactarius. Archaeological records attesting to his rule show up in coinage found in former Transalpine Gaul. Life Teia (Teja) was a military officer serving under Totila, who was chosen as his successor and raised over a shield after Totila was killed in the Battle of Taginae (also known as the ''Battle of Busta Gallorum'') in July 552. After this major Gothic defeat Teia gathered together the remaining Goths. In an act of revenge for the losses at ''Busta Gallorum'', Teia ordered the death of all the Roman senators in Campania including Flavius Maximus, who had been exiled by Belisarius.
