Tahiti At The 2023 Pacific Games
Tahiti is scheduled to compete at the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara from 19 November to 2 December 2023. Tahitian athletes have appeared at every edition of the Pacific Games since the inaugural games in 1963. Competitors The following is the list of number of competitors in the Games. Athletics announced a 30 member roster (15 men and 15 women) for the 2023 Games which also include one male para-athlete. Tahiti's sole gold medalist from Apia 2019 in the men's 5000 metres, Samuel Aragaw, will not be on the team to defend his title. The Olympic Committee of French Polynesia is the national Olympic committee of French Polynesia, a Overseas France, French overseas country. It is chaired by Louis PROVOST. Committee Created on January 3, 1973 as an association under the law of July 1, 1901, as a “Territorial Sports Committee” (CTS) then “Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee” (CTOS), it became the COPF by decision of 2 September 2000. Its headquarters is in Pirae and its statutes, following a deliberation of the Assembly of French Polynesia dated October 14, 1999, are decided by the Polynesian Council of Ministers. Its social purpose is to bring together all the sports federations of French Polynesia by coordinating their efforts and to represent Polynesian sport to official bodies such as the Pacific Games Council, the Pacific Community, to the exclusion of international federations and organizations which directly depend on it.
