Tagesschau (Italian TV Programme)
''Tagesschau'' ( en, View on the Day) is the title of a news broadcast on Rai Südtirol, RAI's German language television channel in the province of South Tyrol. The program has been broadcast since the channel was launched on 7 February 1966, although its editorial staff was based in Rome until 1992. The main and first edition is broadcast at 8PM and the second and last edition, added in the 1990s, is broadcast at 10:10PM and is called ''Tagesschau um 10 nach 10'' (''Tagesschau at 10 past 10''). The Tagesschau covers local, national and international news. Format The Tagesschau open jingle begins with the first notes of the '' Bozner Bergsteigerlied''. The headlines include the three most considerable news of the day. The two editions are broadcast from the same studio in the RAI broadcasting house in Bolzano and are both hosted by the same presenter. Four presenters alternately host the newscast. Rai Südtirol ( ''Rai South Tyrol'') is an Italian free-to-air regional television channel owned and operated by state-owned public broadcaster RAI – Radiotelevisione italiana. It is the company's German and Ladin languages television channel aimed at the German-speaking public of South Tyrol and the Ladin-speaking population of Ladinia. Bozner Bergsteigerlied
The Bozner Bergsteigerlied ( en, Bozen mountaineer song) is one of the two unofficial hymns of the South Tyroleans, the other being the '' Andreas-Hofer-Lied''. Its lyrics were composed in 1926 by Karl Felderer in Moos am Ritten to the melody of an old Tyrolean craftsmen's song. At the time of its composition, the Italianization of South Tyrol campaign of the Italian fascists had reached its height, effecting a prohibition of all names related to "Südtirol" and "Deutsch-Südtirol". Therefore, the lyrics never mention South Tyrol directly, referring instead to its geographical extension. In the first verse, its north-south extension is described by the way of the Eisack source and the ''Salurner Klause'', a bottleneck which used to mark the border between the German and Italian-speaking area. RAI – Radiotelevisione italiana (; commercially styled as Rai since 2000; known until 1954 as Radio Audizioni Italiane) is the national public broadcasting company of Italy, owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. RAI operates many terrestrial and subscription television channels and radio stations. It is one of the biggest broadcasters in Italy competing with Mediaset, and other minor radio and television networks. RAI has a relatively high television audience share of 35.9%.
