Taft Cardinals
The Taft Cardinals were a minor league baseball franchise based in Taft, Texas. In 1938, the Cardinals played as members of the Class D (baseball), Class D level Texas Valley League in their only season of minor league play, qualifying for the playoffs. Taft hosted home minor league games at the Taft High School (Texas), Taft High School Field. History The Taft Cardinals began minor league play in the 1938 Texas Valley League. After a nine-season hiatus, the 1938 Texas Valley League reformed as a six–team Class D (baseball), Class D level league, with the Brownsville Charros, Corpus Christi Spudders, Harlingen Hubs, McAllen Packers and Refugio Oilers joining Taft as the league members. In their opening game, Taft was defeated by the Brownsville Charros by the score of 8–5. Johnson City Cardinals
The Johnson City Cardinals were a Minor League Baseball team based in Johnson City, Tennessee. The team was affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals organization from 1975 through 2020 and played in the Rookie-level Appalachian League. The team won 10 league championships, most recently in 2019. They played their home games at TVA Credit Union Ballpark. Before 1975, the team operated under several other names and affiliations. The start of the 2020 season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before ultimately being cancelled on June 30. In conjunction with a contraction of Minor League Baseball beginning with the 2021 season, the Appalachian League was reorganized as a collegiate summer baseball league, and the Cardinals were replaced by the Johnson City Doughboys, a new franchise in the revamped league designed for rising college freshmen and sophomores. New Iberia Cardinals
The New Iberia Cardinals were an Evangeline League baseball team that played under various names from 1934 to 1956. From 1934 to 1942, 1946 to 1947, in 1949 and in 1953, they were known as the New Iberia Cardinals. They were based in New Iberia, Louisiana, and were affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1935 to 1941 and the Boston Red Sox in 1946. One of their home ball parks was Acadian Park. They won one league championship, in 1941 under Johnny Keane. In 1948, from 1951 to 1952 and from 1954 to 1955, they were known as the New Iberia Pelicans. Kenesaw Mountain Landis (; November 20, 1866 – November 25, 1944) was an American jurist who served as a United States federal judge from 1905 to 1922 and the first Commissioner of Baseball from 1920 until his death. He is remembered for his handling of the Black Sox Scandal, in which he expelled eight members of the Chicago White Sox from organized baseball for conspiring to lose the 1919 World Series and repeatedly refused their reinstatement requests.
