T Formation
In American football, a T formation (frequently called the full house formation in modern usage, sometimes the Robust T) is a formation used by the offensive team in which three running backs line up in a row about five yards behind the quarterback, forming the shape of a "T".Bible, pp. 115-117. Single-wing
In American and Canadian football, a single-wing formation was a precursor to the modern spread or shotgun formation. The term usually connotes formations in which the snap is tossed rather than handed—formations with one wingback and a handed snap are commonly called "wing T" or "winged T". Created by Glenn "Pop" Warner, the single wing was superior to the T formation in its ability to get an extra eligible receiver down field. Sid Luckman
Sidney Luckman (November 21, 1916 – July 5, 1998) was an American professional American football, football player who was a quarterback for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) from 1939 Chicago Bears season, 1939 through 1950 Chicago Bears season, 1950. Solly Sherman
Saul S. Sherman (September 25, 1917 – October 10, 2010) was a professional American football quarterback in the National Football League. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he played two seasons for the Chicago Bears. Career Sherman played collegiately for the University of Chicago, initially as a halfback, before converting to quarterback his senior year. It was during his time at UChicago that he had learned the T-formation, at the time a novel offensive scheme, from Maroons head coach Clark Shaughnessy. George Stanley Halas Sr. (; February 2, 1895October 31, 1983), nicknamed "Papa Bear" and "Mr. Everything", was an American professional football player, coach, and team owner. The 1940 NFL Championship Game, sometimes referred to simply as 73–0, was the eighth title game of the National Football League (NFL). It was played at Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C. on December 8, with a sellout capacity attendance of 36,034. The Chicago Bears (8–3) of the Western Division met the Washington Redskins (9–2), champions of the Eastern Division. Neither team had played in the title game since 1937, when the Redskins won a close game at Chicago's Wrigley Field. For this game in Washington, the Bears entered as slight favorites. The Bears scored eleven touchdowns and won 73–0, the most one-sided victory in NFL history.
