TV47 Kenya
TV47 is a television channel based in Kenya. It is owned by Cape Media Limited, an affiliate of Mount Kenya University. It was launched in 2019 by Cape Media Limited, Eugene Anangwe as the Chief Executive Officer and its main broadcast languages are English and Kiswahili. TV47 is a late entrant in the mass media in Kenya. There are more than 50 television stations in Kenya. These stations include Citizen TV, by Royal Media Services of Samuel Kamau Macharia, Kenya Television Network by The Standard (Kenya), NTV (Kenyan TV channel) by Nation Media Group, and K24 TV by Media Max Limited. The station started as Lemigo TV in Kigali, Rwanda in 2014. Lemigo changed its name to Royal TV, and later to TV47 when it left the Rwandan market for Kenya. K24 TV, is a TV station in Kenya established in 2007, and launched on February 4, 2008. K24 was the first Kenyan television station to stream live on the internet, giving diaspora viewers a taste of real Kenyan stories told in real time. K24 Kenya receives 3.1 watchime (hours) per week. It is powered by Mediamax Network Ltd which was established in 2009 and now happens to be one of the fastest growing media houses in Kenya. Nation Media Group (abbreviated as NMG) is a Kenyan media group listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. NMG was founded by Aga Khan IV in 1959 and is the largest private media house in East and Central Africa with offices in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. NTV is a Kenyan general entertainment channel. The channel began operating on April 4, 2005, and is a revamp from the previous Nation TV station under the Nation Media Group arm that has been in existence since 1999. ''The Standard'' is one of the largest newspapers in Kenya with a 48% market share. Kenya Television Network (KTN) is a Kenyan free-to-air television network that was launched in March 1990 by Jared Kangwana. It is headquartered at Standard Group Centre, Nairobi. Samuel Kamau Macharia (born 1942), also known as S. K. Macharia, is a Kenyan, founder and chair of Royal Media Services, one of the largest private radio and television networks in Kenya.
