''TOTEP'' (erroneously spelled out on the spine of physical releases as ''The One True EP'') is the third extended play by British band Kero Kero Bonito, self-released on 20 February 2018. The EP marks a departure from the "sunny" electropop of previous releases in favor of a " grungier, guitar-heavy style, full of crunching distortion and glitched out noise." The EP was preceded by the single "Only Acting", which was later featured on the band's second studio album, ''Time 'n' Place'' (2018). Critical reception Anna Gace of ''Spin'' opined that the songs on the EP "feel a bit sketched-in, but they also suggest that KKB see a future where they're not just cranking out delightfully goofy bubblegum dance-pop." Kero Kero Bonito
Kero Kero Bonito (KKB) are a British indie pop band formed in South London in 2011. The band consists of vocalist Sarah Midori Perry and producers and multi-instrumentalists Gus Lobban and Jamie Bulled. Their musical style consists of indie pop, electropop, dance-rock, hyperpop, and Bubblegum music, bubblegum pop. The band's earlier work was influenced by J-pop such as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, as well as dancehall, and video game music; however, following their 2018 EP ''TOTEP'' their sound and influences diversified, with their second studio album, ''Time 'n' Place'', being influenced by indie rock contemporaries such as Mount Eerie and My Bloody Valentine (band), My Bloody Valentine. Cecile Believe (formerly known as Mozart's Sister) is a solo project by Montreal-based Canadian musician Caila Thompson-Hannant. Biography Thompson-Hannant's musical beginnings are much accredited to the electropop introduced to her by her uncle. She went on to play guitar & synthesizer in the band Shapes & Sizes, which was on the Asthmatic Kitty label. She was also a member of Montreal-based bands Miracle Fortress and Think About Life. Thompson-Hannant independently released her first EP, ''Dear Fear'', in 2011 through Bandcamp. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Bubblegum Music
Bubblegum (also called bubblegum pop) is pop music in a catchy and upbeat style that is considered disposable, contrived, or marketed for children and adolescents. The term also refers to a rock and pop subgenre, originating in the United States in the late 1960s, that evolved from garage rock, novelty songs, and the Brill Building sound, and which was also defined by its target demographic of preteens and young teenagers.
