TNCA MTW-1
The TNCA MTW-1 was a high-wing monoplane built by the TNCA (National Aeronautical Construction Workshops). Background In 1933 the Spanish pilots Mariano Barberán and Joaquín Collar Serra made the Flight of the Cuatro Vientos, a nonstop flight between Seville (Spain) and Camagüey (Cuba) in a Breguet XIX GR Super-Bidón plane. After that trip they decided to continue towards Mexico City making a stop in Havana, however the plane disappeared near Villahermosa, Tabasco and after numerous searches among which the Mexican pilot Francisco Sarabia Tinoco participated with his airline "Transportes Aéreos de Chiapas", however the remains were not found. Francisco Sarabia wanted to return the gesture to the Spanish pilots making a nonstop flight between Mexico and Spain in a nationally manufactured aircraft, for which he had the support of the Mexican government and TNCA. Design and development To design the prototype, was used a design made by Dr. Mikhail T. Watter, a Russian en ...

TNCA Series A
TNCA Series A was a utility biplane made in Mexico by Talleres Nacionales de Construcciones Aeronáuticas (TNCA). Design and development The first Series A prototype was the result of a Morane-Moisant monoplane being converted to a biplane by engineer Francisco Santarini. This prototype made its first flight on 20 November 1916. The second prototype was similar and had a French Anzani 6-cylinder engine. The third prototype was the first aircraft that was fully built in Mexico, powered by a TNCA Aztatl engine driving an Anahuac propeller and first flown on 16 May 1917, marking the start of serial production. Mexican President Venustiano Carranza presented two examples to El Salvador, one of which was used as a source of spare parts. Operational history On 6 July 1917, the first airmail flight was inaugurated in Mexico, flown by a TNCA Series A. The aircraft was dispatched two days before by train to the city of Pachuca, where it was loaded with a suitcase containing 534 ...

TNCA Serie H
The TNCA Serie H "Parasol" was a Mexican bomber and reconnaissance aircraft manufactured by the Talleres Nacionales de Construcciones Aeronáuticas (TNCA). It was a high-wing monoplane (which was very unusual at the time), which allowed better speed performance. It was one of the first aircraft models made by TNCA and was designed as a "Technology Tester", in order to improve the designs of subsequent models. Its design was very similar to the Morane-Saulnier L, especially the design of the landing gear Landing gear is the undercarriage of an aircraft or spacecraft that is used for takeoff or landing. For aircraft it is generally needed for both. It was also formerly called ''alighting gear'' by some manufacturers, such as the Glenn L. Martin ..., mast and the controls of the rudders, however the fuselage structure was made of metal tubes. It was powered by a 60 HP TNCA Aztatl six cylinders air cooled engine, with an Anáhuac propeller. The aircraft did not have fixed weap ...

TNCA Serie B
The TNCA B Series was a single-engine reconnaissance biplane built in Mexico by Talleres Nacionales de Construcciones Aeronáuticas (National Aircraft Construction Workshops). Design and development In 1920, Ángel Lascurain y Osio was appointed director of TNCA. Under his direction, an airplane was built based on the structure of the TNCA Serie A, to which major modifications were made, such as larger dimensions and the adaptation of a Salmson 9-cylinder radial engine, the prototype received the registration ''1-B-72''. After successful demonstrations of this aircraft, the government authorized the construction of five more examples, which were affectionately dubbed "puros" ( cigars), due to their wide tubular fuselages, which was the main difference compared to the TNCA Serie A. Four examples were each equipped with two Thompson 11.43 mm caliber machine guns in the rear cabin. The TNC Serie B demonstrated reliability and also the ability to land and take off on unprepared ...

TNCA Serie E
The TNCA Serie E was a family of various monoplanes built in Mexico by the Talleres Nacionales de Construcciones Aeronáuticas (National Aeronautical Construction Workshops). Design and development The first aircraft of the Serie E family was a low-wing monoplane with registration number 2-E-98, which was dubbed "Sonora", this airplane made its first flight on March 2, 1922. It was powered by a le Rhône 9J 9-cylinder rotary engine, exceeding expectations, with performance significantly higher than similar aircraft at the time. Despite its benefits, the plane was not produced in series, because for was the Technical Consultant of the Aviation Department Ralph O'Neill, the aircraft could not be used for military purposes. The "Sonora" was in service with the Mexican Air Force until 1925 and later dismantled, being sold to a private individual. Ángel Lascurain and Antonio Sea made a redesign of the "Sonora", this time it was a high-wing monoplane that received the registratio ...

TNCA Series C
The TNCA Series C Microplano was a single-engine, single-seat fighter designed and built in Mexico during World War I. Design From 1915 the ''Talleres Nacionales de Construcciones Aeronáuticas'' - (National Aeronautical Construction Workshops), sometimes known as the Military Aviation Factory, produced several series of Mexican aircraft. Some of these were based on European designs but others were indigenous. Pressure for local designs and production was increased by the concentration of European manufacturers on war production, in addition to the tensions between Mexico and the United States. In 1917 rights to build Spanish Hispano-Suiza engines was acquired and a factory established. The Series C Microplano was an unequal span single bay biplane, with wings without sweep or stagger connected by pairs of vertical, parallel interplane struts on each side, the forward ones a little closer to the fuselage. Both wings had constant chord and squared tips. There was a triangula ...

Sea Teziutlán
The Sea Teziutlán was a primary training aircraft designed by the engineer Antonio Sea and built by Talleres Generales de Aeronáutica Militar. Design and development In 1940 General Roberto Fierro Villalobos was re-appointed as commander of the Mexican Air Force and director of the Talleres Generales de Reparaciones Aeronáuticas (TGAM, General Workshops of Military Aeronautics), which were formerly called " Talleres Nacionales de Construcciones Aeronáuticas (TNCA)", taking the initiative to finance an aircraft project designed by the engineer Antonio Sea, which would be built in the workshops of Teziutlán, Puebla (hence its name). It was a design of two open cabins in tandem configuration, with fuselage built in metal and wings made of wood with fixed landing gear. It was powered by a 125-horsepower Lycoming O-290 Lycoming may refer to the following, most of which are at least partly in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, United States: Geography * Lycoming, New York, a hamle ...

Azcárate O-E-1
__NOTOC__ The Azcárate O-E-1 was a reconnaissance-bomber aircraft developed in Mexico in the late 1920s. It was designed by General Brigadier Juan Francisco Azcárate and built at the TNCA workshops near Mexico City. A trainer version, the Azcárate E-1 (for ''Escuela'') was also built. It was a sesquiplane of conventional configuration with tailskid undercarriage, and seating the crew in tandem, open cockpits. The types are sometimes collectively referred to simply as the "Azcárate sesquiplane" (''sesquiplano'' in Spanish).
