The Flash (or simply Flash) is the name of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, the original Flash first appeared in ''Flash Comics'' #1 (cover date January 1940/release month November 1939). ''The Flash'' is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Double Dream, and The Disco Factory, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is intended to be the 13th installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash alongside Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother's murder, which brings unintended consequences. Flash was an English progressive rock group, formed by former Yes guitarist Peter Banks, vocalist Colin Carter, bassist Ray Bennett, and drummer Mike Hough in August 1971. Early career The band went into the recording studio in November 1971 to record its debut album, and performed its first gig on 14 January 1972. Coincidentally, exactly one year later, on 14 January 1973, Flash would fill New York's Philharmonic Hall. There is some controversy over whether fellow ex-Yes member, keyboardist Tony Kaye, who appeared on the first Flash album, was actually an "official" member of the group, or merely a guest. The confusion stems from the fact that the record company listed Kaye alongside the other members of the group on the back cover. Interviews with all the parties confirm that, though Kaye was invited to join, he declined, and should have been cited as a guest on the first album. He went on to found Badger in 1972. ''Flash'' was the first genuine community newsletter/newspaper of Auckland City in New Zealand and ran from 1977 to 1982. It was started by Vince Terrini, an architect, Auckland University School of Architecture lecturer, and creator of the Cheer Up Party, who was elected Chairman of the Westmere, Grey Lynn Community Committee in 1977. It was used to inform the local community on what was happening in the area. It ran for 31 issues from November 1977 to February 1982. Its circulation areas were essentially run-down working class suburbs, with some middle class housing in western Westmere. Flash's main preoccupation was addressing the unbalanced representation on the Auckland City Council, which was perceived by Westmere and Grey Lynn residents to be dominated by wealthy Remuera-based councillors. Throughout its publication, the series has primarily focused on two characters who have worn the mantle of the Flash: Barry Allen, the second Flash (1959–1985, 2010–2020), and Wally West, the third Flash (1987–2006, 2007–2008, 2021–present).
