TEFI (russian: ТЭФИ) is an annual award given in the Russian television industry, presented by the Russian Academy of Television. It has been awarded since 1994. TEFI is presented in various sectors (up to 50 nominations in 2008), such as television shows, notable people in the television industry, journalists, channels. The winners are awarded the Orpheus statuette created by Ernst Neizvestny. It can be considered the Russian analogue of the Emmy Awards. ''Call of the Jungles'' (russian: Зов джунглей, Zov Djungley) was a TEFI-awarded Russian children's game show created and hosted by Sergei Suponev. Was aired on Wednesdays on Channel One. Later it was hosted by Pyotr Fyodorov Sr. for 1999, and Nikolai Gadomsky between 1999 and 2000. Music for the show was composed by Viktor Prudkovsky and Sergei Suponev performed the opening theme music "Djungli Zovut" (russian: Джунгли зовут, lit. "Jungles Are Calling"). The contestants were split into two teams of four called "The Predators" and "The Herbivores." Each player was associated with an animal, printed on their T-shirt which included, for the Predators, a crocodile, lion, panther and a leopard. ''In the World of Animals'' (russian: В мире животных, V mire zhivotnykh) is a Soviet and Russian television program dedicated to zoology and wildlife research, especially the habits and habitat of animals. It began airing in 1968. In the early 1970s, the show started with a composition by Paul Mauriat Orchestra ''Colombe Ivre'', with giraffe and rhino depicted in the main titles. In 1974, the title sequence depicted a flying monkey, running under the ostriches, with the music of Ariel Ramirez's ''La peregrinación (Pilgrimage)'' from the Christmas cantata ''Our Christmas'', also in adaptation by Paul Mauriat Orchestra. This screensaver lasted until 2009. The program was the winner of the TEFI prize in 1996 for ''Best journalistic program''. Ernst Iosifovich Neizvestny (russian: Эрнст Ио́сифович Неизве́стный; 9 April 1925 – 9 August 2016) was a Russian sculptor, painter, graphic artist, and art philosopher. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1976 and lived and worked in New York City. His last name in Russian literally means "unknown". Russia-K (russian: Россия Культура, translit=Rossiya Kul'tura "Russia - Culture") is a Russian nationwide not-for-profit television channel that broadcasts shows regarding arts and culture. It belongs to the state-controlled VGTRK group. History The creation of ''Kultura'' channel was authorised on 25 August 1997 after the presidential Decree No. 919 was signed by Boris Yeltsin. Its creation was supported by Mstislav Rostropovich, Dmitry Likhachyov, Rolan Bykov and other public figures. Mikhail Shvydkoy became the first editor-in-chief of Kultura. The channel began broadcasting on 1 November 1997 at 10:00 AM. At the stage of launching, it was planned that it would be called "RTR-2" (while RTR was labeled as RTR-1). The corresponding logo was briefly used in a number of printed TV programs, while the stylized "K" letter was used as the logo from the beginning of broadcast. ''Kultura'' (, ''Culture'')—sometimes referred to as ''Kultura Paryska'' ("Paris-based Culture")—was a leading Polish-émigré literary-political magazine, published from 1947 to 2000 by ''Instytut Literacki'' (the Literary Institute), initially in Rome and then in Paris. ''Big Difference'' (russian: Большая разница, Bolshaya raznitsa) was a Russian parody TV show. Conceptually it is similar to the ''MADtv'' show or the German comedy show, ''Switch''. Created by producers Aleksandr Tsekalo and Ruslan Sorokin in 2007. The actors within the project are performing parodies of the most popular Russian and world celebrities, TV programs, movies, etc. In 2012, the show was rebranded to ''Big Difference TV'' and one of the hosts, Ivan Urgant, was contracted by the Russian competing channel TNT to leave the show. Four hosts (Ivan Urgant, Garik Martirosyan, Sergei Svetlakov, Alexander Tsekalo) discuss current news and comment on different issues in politics and economics, similar to 7 Tage, 7 Köpfe. The show's name is a reference to the 1980s TV program "Прожектор Перестройки" ("Prozhektor Perestroyki", "Spotlight on Perestroika")—a program that was discussing current events on Soviet television during the times of Perestroika—and American socialite Paris Hilton, who, according to Svetlakov, symbolizes lack of taste. It belongs to the CTC Media company. The company is owned by National media group (Russia) and VTB Bank (Russia). ''Thank God You're Here'' is an Australian television improvised comedy program created by Working Dog Productions, which premiered on Network Ten on 5 April 2006, and aired for the first three seasons and on Seven for the fourth season. Each episode involves performers walking through a door into an unknown situation, greeted by the line "Thank God you're here!". They then had to improvise their way through the scene. At the end of each episode a winner was announced. It was the most successful new show in Australia of 2006, attracting an average of 1.7 million viewers after the first few episodes. Bibigon (Russian: Бибигон) was a Russian television channel dedicated to children and adolescents. The channel, a subsidiary of Russia-1 and owned by VGTRK, was first launched on 1 September 2007. It was originally launched as a block in daytime on Russia, Sport and Kultura. Bibigon was only available in Russia and Armenia. The channel was named after the character of Chukovsky's fairytale "The adventures of Bibigon". The channel was replaced by Karusel on 27 December 2010.
