Skills Victoria is the Victorian Government body that oversees Victoria's independent TAFE Institutes. In 2012, the Victorian Liberal/National Coalition, under the leadership of Premier Ted Baillieu made large funding cuts (over $300M) to the TAFE public education system, resulting in many course being cut, campus closures and job losses. Ted Baillieu
Edward Norman Baillieu (born 31 July 1953) is a former Australian politician who was Premier of Victoria from 2010 to 2013. He was a Liberal Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2014, representing the electorate of Hawthorn. He was elected leader of the Liberal Party in opposition in 2006, and served as Premier from 2010 until 2013 after winning the 2010 state election. He resigned as Premier on 6 March 2013, and was succeeded by Denis Napthine. Early life Ted Baillieu is the youngest son of Darren and Diana Baillieu. Sunraysia Institute Of TAFE
The Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, also known as SuniTAFE is a provider of vocational education and training services in north-west Victoria, Australia. Founded in 1980, its first campus is located in Mildura, Victoria, with additional campuses in Swan Hill, Robinvale, and Horsham, and a training farm in Cardross History The institute was established in 1980 as the Sunraysia College of TAFE. The institute was the first purpose designed TAFE college in Victoria. It was renamed the Sunraysia Institute of TAFE on 2 October 1995. From its inception the Institute aimed to provide training to meet the needs of the local community including the more remote locations in the region such as Ouyen, Manangatang and Werrimull. Melbourne Polytechnic, formerly NMIT, is an institute of higher education and vocational education (TAFE) located in Melbourne, Australia that has been operating since around 1910. In October 2014, the institute was renamed to Melbourne Polytechnic, aided by a $19 million grant from the Victorian Government.
