TAFE Queensland is the statutory authority parent body for TAFE technical and further education training in the Australian state of Queensland. Established in 1882, TAFE Queensland is one of Australia's largest education providers with 120,000+ students trained each year across the state, nationally and internationally. On 1 July 2013, the state's TAFE institutes were organised into six regions; Brisbane, East Coast, Gold Coast, North, SkillsTech, and South West. On 1 July 2014, TAFE Queensland was officially established as a statutory body by the TAFE Queensland Act 2013. On 1 July 2017, TAFE Queensland began consolidating their six regional registered training organisations (RTO) into a single RTO. Technical and further education or simply TAFE (), is the common name in English-speaking countries in Oceania for vocational education, as a subset of tertiary education. TAFE institutions provide a wide range of predominantly vocational courses. Individual TAFE institutions (usually with numerous campuses) are known as either colleges or institutes, depending on the country, state or territory. In Australia, where the term TAFE originated, institutions usually host qualifying courses, under the National Training System/Australian Qualifications Framework/Australian Quality Training Framework. TAFE Queensland SkillsTech (previously known as SkillsTech Australia and Trade and Technician Skills Institute) is a pre-eminent provider of Vocational education, vocational education and training in Queensland, Queensland, Australia. TAFE Queensland Gold Coast was formed from the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE (or GCIT) in 2013 on 1 July. The vocational education and training (VET) organisation services the Gold Coast region of Queensland, Australia, with six campuses across suburbs including Southport, Coomera, Ashmore and Coolangatta and Robina. A registered training organisation (RTO), in Australia, is an organisation providing Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses to students, resulting in qualifications or statements of attainment that are recognised and accepted by industry and other educational institutions throughout Australia. is the Japanese original academic degree given to people who had spent more than 4 years and successfully completed a particular specialized course of study at the vocational schools certified by Japanese MEXT (the educational ministry of the Japanese government). The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) specifies the standards for educational qualifications in Australia.
