T2 Tunnel (Greece)
The T2 Tunnel ( el, Σήραγγα Τ2), officially Marinos Antypas–Rigas Feraios Tunnel ( el, Σήραγγα Μαρίνου Αντύπα–Ρήγα Φεραίου) is a highway twin tunnel on the A1 motorway in Greece. It is the longest road tunnel in South-east Europe. It was built for the motorway to bypass the Vale of Tempe, which was traversed by the very narrow and dangerous Greek National Road 1. Construction of the T2 Tunnel began in August 2008, along with a section of the motorway, but both projects were slowed in 2010–11 by the country's economic crisis. Construction resumed in 2014 and was completed in April 2017, along with the Evangelismos- Skotina section of the motorway. Larissa ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Λάρισας) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Thessaly. Its capital is the city of Larissa. Total population 269,151 (2021). Geography Larissa is the second largest regional unit in Greece, exceeded only by Aetolia-Acarnania. It covers about one-third of Thessaly. Vale Of Tempe
The Vale of Tempe ( el, Κοιλάδα των Τεμπών) is a gorge in the Tempi municipality of northern Thessaly, Greece, located between Olympus to the north and Ossa to the south, and between the regions of Thessaly and Macedonia. The valley is 10 kilometers long and as narrow as 25 meters in places, with cliffs nearly 500 meters high, and through it flows the Pineios River on its way to the Aegean Sea. In ancient times, it was celebrated by Greek poets as a favorite haunt of Apollo and the Muses. Greek National Road 1 ( el, Εθνική Οδός 1, abbreviated as EO1) is the old single carriageway road connecting Athens with Thessaloniki and Evzonoi, the border crossing between Greece and North Macedonia. For most of its length, it has been replaced by the new A1 motorway. Skotina () is a rural settlement of the former municipality of East Olympos, itself part of the municipality of Dion-Olympos, in the Pieria regional unit, Central Macedonia, Greece. Name The name is taken due to handmade costumes (woolen fabrics, handmade costumes), which were made in the region that made the cloaks and the sails for sailing ships of the era.
