The Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family are the descendants of the 16th Baron Saye and Sele who was born Frederick Benjamin Twistleton and adopted the surname Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes in 1849 by Act of Parliament. He was the grandson of Thomas Twisleton, 13th Baron Saye and Sele and inherited the barony from his first cousin William Thomas Eardley-Twisleton-Fiennes in 1847. Baron Saye and Sele is a title in the Peerage of England held by the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family. The title dates to 1447 but it was recreated in 1603. Confusion over the details of the 15th-century title has led to conflicting order for titleholders; authorities such as ''Burke's Peerage'' and ''Debrett's Peerage'' do not agree on whether or not the 1447 creation is still extant. Ivo Murray Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 20th Baron Saye and Sele OBE MC (15 December 1885 - 21 October 1968) was a British peer and army officer. Biography He was born to Geoffrey Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 18th Baron Saye and Sele. He educated at Harrow and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. He served as an officer during the First World War and was mentioned in despatches. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery. For his service he was awarded the Croix de Guerre (1919) and the Military Cross (M.C.) Fiennes is best known for her film '' Onegin'' (1999), which starred her elder brother, Ralph, and her subsequent film ''Chromophobia'' (2005). Career Fiennes made her directorial debut with the film '' Onegin'' – an adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's verse novel ''Eugene Onegin'', which starred her brother Ralph in the title role. Mark Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes (11 November 1933 – 30 December 2004) was an English photographer and illustrator. Fiennes was perhaps best known for his architectural studies. Maurice Fiennes
Sir Maurice Alberic Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes (1 March 1907 – 14 September 1994) was an English industrialist. Fiennes was the son of Alberic Arthur Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, and his wife, Gertrude Theodosia Pomeroy (née Colley), and great-grandson of Frederick Benjamin Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 16th Baron Saye and Sele. He was educated at the independent Repton School in the village of Repton in Derbyshire and at Armstrong College in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He was the managing director of Davy & United Engineering and chairman of Davy-Ashmore in Sheffield, and achieved success as a producer of high quality British steel. Celia Mary Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes known as Celia Fiennes and later Celia Rooke, (10 March 1902 – 17 September 1998) was a British artist, notable as a printmaker and book illustrator. Biography Fiennes was born in Ealing in London and was the daughter of Alberic Fiennes, (1865–1919), who worked at the Bank of England and his wife Gertrude, the daughter of a Royal Navy officer. Celia Fiennes was a direct descendant of the 17th-century travel writer Celia Fiennes. Fiennes studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and when she graduated began working for the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society in London. Oliver Fiennes
Oliver William Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes (17 May 1926 – 8 June 2011) was Dean of Lincoln in the latter part of the 20th century. Early life and education He was born on 17 May 1926 into a noble family, the youngest of three sons of the 20th Baron Saye and Sele. He was educated at Eton College and won the Sword of Honour as best overall cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the Rifle Brigade on 1 September 1945 as a second lieutenant, but saw no fighting as the Second World War ended soon afterwards.
