Twice Upon A Time (1953 Film)
''Twice Upon a Time'' is a 1953 British comedy film directed by Emeric Pressburger and starring Hugh Williams, Elizabeth Allan, Yolande Larthe, and Charmian Larthe. It is based on the 1949 novel ''Lisa and Lottie'' by Erich Kästner.Goble p.252 It concerns twin sisters who are separated when their parents divorce. They meet again by accident when they are sent to the same summer camp, and they hatch a plan to reunite their parents. ''Lotte and Lisa'' had already been adapted into the films ''Two Times Lotte'' (1950) and ''Hibari no komoriuta'' (1951). ''Twice Upon a Time'' was the first English-language film adaptation; the story was later adapted as '' The Parent Trap'' (1961) and has been remade a number of times in English and many other languages. Emeric Pressburger (born Imre József Pressburger; 5 December 19025 February 1988) was a Hungarian-British screenwriter, film director, and producer. Archie Duncan (actor)
Archie Duncan (26 May 1914 – 24 July 1979) was a Scottish actor born in Glasgow. Duncan's father was a regimental sergeant major in the army and his mother was a postmistress. He attended Glasgow's Govan High School and worked as a welder in Glasgow shipyards for a decade. He began his career in repertory theatre and West End plays. His professional acting debut was in ''Juno and the Paycock'' in May 1944 at the Alhambra Theatre, Glasgow. Although he appeared in over 50 television series and movie roles, he is best remembered for Inspector Lestrade in the 1954 series ''Sherlock Holmes'' and Little John in ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'' from 1955 to 1959. Collin Randall Wilcox (February 4, 1935 – October 14, 2009) was an American film, stage and television actress. Over her career, she was also credited as Collin Wilcox-Horne or Collin Wilcox-Paxton. Wilcox may be best known for her role in ''To Kill a Mockingbird'' (1962), in which she played Mayella Violet Ewell, whose father falsely claimed she had been raped by a Black man, which sparks the trial at the center of the film. Jeanne Stuart (13 August 1908 – 12 February 2003), born Ivy Sweet, was a British stage and film actress. Using the stage name Jeanne Stuart, she performed on the London stage, on Broadway, and in motion pictures. Walter Fitzgerald Bond (18 May 1896 – 20 December 1976) was an English character actor. Early life Born in Stoke, Plymouth, Fitzgerald was a former stockbroker before he began his theatrical training at RADA. He joined the British Army during World War I, serving with the Worcestershire Regiment, the Devonshire Regiment, and the Somerset Light Infantry.
