Turku Cemetery
Turku Cemetery ( fi, Turun hautausmaa, sv, Åbo begravningsplats) is a cemetery inaugurated in 1807 and located in Vasaramäki on the south-eastern outskirts of the city of Turku. The drawings of the cemetery has been prepared by the architect Charles Bassi. In the cemetery there are two chapels complexes. The Resurrection Chapel or ''Ylösnousemuskappeli/Uppståndelsekapellet'' was completed in 1941 by architect Erik Bryggman. The ''Heliga Korsets'' chapel and crematorium is inaugurated in 1967 by architect Pekka Pitkänen. The first buried person in the cemetery was William Archibald Cramp, who died in 1806 on his way from St. Petersburg to Turku. Impi Maria Mirjami Mane (born Mirjami Manelius; 9 May 1929 – 21 April 1974) was a Finnish actress. Paavo Nurmi
Paavo Johannes Nurmi (; 13 June 1897 – 2 October 1973) was a Finnish middle-distance and long-distance runner. He was called the "Flying Finn" or the "Phantom Finn", as he dominated distance running in the 1920s. Nurmi set 22 official world records at distances between 1500 metres and 20 kilometres, and won nine gold and three silver medals in his 12 events in the Summer Olympic Games. At his peak, Nurmi was undefeated for 121 races at distances from 800 m upwards. Throughout his 14-year career, he remained unbeaten in cross country events and the 10,000 metres. Jarno Saarinen
Jarno Karl Keimo Saarinen (11 December 1945 – 20 May 1973) was a Finnish professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. In the early 1970s, he was considered one of the most promising and talented motorcycle racers of his era until he was killed during the 1973 Nations Grand Prix in Italy. Saarinen's death led to increased demands for better safety conditions for motorcycle racers competing in the world championships.
