Turks In Europe
The Turks in Europe (sometimes called Euro-Turks; tr, Avrupa'daki Türkler or ''Avrupa Türkleri'') refers to ethnic Turks living in Europe. Generally, the Euro-Turks refers to the large Turkish diasporas living in Central and Western Europe as well as the historic Turkish minorities living in the Balkans since Ottoman rule, and the Turks living in Russia and other European Post-Soviet states. When the term "Euro-Turks" is taken in its most literal sense, Turkish people living in the European portion of Turkey are also included in the term. Even more broadly, the Turkish Cypriot community for centuries old native people living in Cyprus (which is located entirely in Asia) have also been defined under the term "Euro-Turks" since the island joined the European Union. The ''Onrust'' (; en, Restless) was a Dutch ship built by Adriaen Block and the crew of the '' Tyger'', which had been destroyed by fire in the winter of 1613. The ''Onrust'' was the first ship to be built in what is now New York State, and the first fur trading vessel built in America. The construction took four months in the winter of 1614 somewhere in New York Bay. Help from the local Native population is surmised based on the relationship developed by Jon Rodriquez, left on the island during a previous voyage. The ''Onrust'' was 44.5 feet long and capable of carrying 16 tons. In 1614, Block sailed through the whirlpools ( Hellegat) on the East River, and into Long Island Sound. Turks of Western Thrace ( tr, , el, Τούρκοι της Δυτικής Θράκης, Toúrkoi tis Dytikís Thrákis) are ethnic Turks who live in Western Thrace, in the province of East Macedonia and Thrace in Northern Greece. According to the Greek census of 1991, there were approximately 50,000 Turks in Western Thrace, out of the approximately 98,000 strong Muslim minority of Greece. Other sources estimate the size of the Turkish community between 90,000 and 120,000.. The Turks of the Dodecanese ( tr, On İki Ada Türkleri, lit. ''Turks of the Twelve Islands'') are a community of 5,500 Turkish-speaking people and ethnic Turks as well as Greek Muslims living on the Dodecanese islands of Rhodes ( tr, Rodos) and Kos ( tr, İstanköy) who were not affected by the 1923 population exchange, because the Dodecanese islands being under the rule of the Kingdom of Italy at the time. The Cretan Muslims ( el, Τουρκοκρητικοί or , or ; tr, Giritli, , or ; ar, أتراك كريت) or Cretan Turks were the Muslim inhabitants of the island of Crete.
