Turk Head (heraldry)
In European heraldry, the decapitated Turk head ( hu, Törökfej, pl, Turecka głowa, Czech and sk, Turecká hlava, sh-Latn-Cyrl, Turska glava, Турска глава, uk, Турецька голова), most often as pierced by a sword, signifies the many wars fought by European Christian states against the invading Muslim, Turkish-led Ottoman Empire. Other depictions include the head held up by a victor or picked by a raven. It is used in modern town, municipality and village coat of arms in Hungary, Serbia and Croatia. Kikinda
Kikinda ( sr-Cyrl, Кикинда, ; hu, Nagykikinda) is a city and the administrative center of the North Banat District in Serbia . The city urban area has 38,069 inhabitants, while the city administrative area has 59,453 inhabitants. The city was founded in the 18th century. From 1774 to 1874 Kikinda was the seat of the District of Velika Kikinda, an autonomous administrative unit of Habsburg monarchy. In 1893 Kikinda was granted the status of a city. The city became part of the Kingdom of Serbia (and Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes) in 1918, and it lost the city status. The status was re-granted in 2016. In 1996, the well-preserved archaeological remnants of a half a million-year-old mammoth were excavated on the outer edge of the town area. The mammoth called "Kika" has become one of the symbols of the town. Today it is exhibited in the National Museum of Kikinda. Orlík Nad Vltavou
Orlík nad Vltavou is a municipality and village in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 300 inhabitants. It is known for the Orlík Castle. Administrative parts The village of Staré Sedlo is an administrative part of Orlík nad Vltavou. Geography Orlík nad Vltavou is located about north of Písek and southwest of Prague. It lies mostly in the Benešov Uplands. The highest point is the hill Chlum at above sea level. The municipality lies on the shores of the Orlík Reservoir, built on the Vltava River. Sights Orlík nad Vltavou is well known for the Orlík Castle. It was originally a fortress dating from the early 13th century at the latest, which was expanded into a strong Gothic castle. Bohemia
Bohemia ( ; cs, Čechy ; ; hsb, Čěska; szl, Czechy) is the westernmost and largest historical region of the Czech Republic. Nemčice ( hu, Nyitranémeti, until 1899 ) is a municipality in the Topoľčany District of the Nitra Region, Slovakia. In 2011 it had 977 inhabitants.
