Athletics At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Pole Vault
The women's pole vault at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place between August 16 and 18 at the Beijing National Stadium. The qualifying standards were 4.45 m (A standard) and 4.30 m (B standard). The final was won by Yelena Isinbayeva, who set a new world record height of 5.05 meters for the discipline. During the finals, one of the poles which Brazilian Fabiana Murer would use disappeared, causing her to spend 10–15 minutes trying to get it back. The lost time and having to use another pole led her to bad results. Hamza Hassini (born August 18, 1987) is a Tunisian amateur boxer. He qualified for the 2008 Olympics in the Light Welterweight division. Aleksei Viktorovich Tishchenko (russian: Алексей Викторович Тищенко; born 29 May 1984) is a former Russian Olympic boxer best known to dominate the lower weight classes in the last years winning numerous titles. He was regarded as "one of the best pound for pound Olympic boxers in the world". He was born in Omsk, Soviet Union. Boxing At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Lightweight
The lightweight competition was the fifth-lowest weight class featured in amateur boxing at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and was held at the Workers Indoor Arena. Lightweights were limited to a maximum of 60 kilograms in body mass. Like all Olympic boxing events, the competition was a straight single-elimination tournament. Both semifinal losers were awarded bronze medals, so no boxers competed again after their first loss. Bouts consisted of four rounds of two minutes each, with one-minute breaks between rounds. Punches scored only if the white area on the front of the glove made full contact with the front of the head or torso of the opponent. Five judges scored each bout; three of the judges had to signal a scoring punch within one second for the punch to score. The winner of the bout was the boxer who scored the most valid punches by the end of the bout. Saifeddine Nejmaoui (born May 5, 1981) is a Tunisian boxer who won the lightweight division at the 2007 All-Africa Games and twice competed at the Olympic Games: 2004 and 2008. In Athens 2004 he lost his first match to Frenchman Khedafi Djelkhir (13:38). He qualified for the Athens Games by winning the gold medal at the 1st AIBA African 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Casablanca, Morocco. Wilhelm Gratschow (born 18 October 1982 in Tashkent) is a German amateur boxer who qualified for the 2008 Olympics. Career Gratschow started as a bantamweight and became German Champion in 2004, in 2005 he lost in the semifinal.
