Tui Regio
Tui Regio (located at 20°S, 130°W) is a region on Titan, the Saturnian moon, in the southwest corner of Xanadu, named after Tui, a Chinese goddess of happiness, joy and water. Tui appears to lack the erosion channels that mark other highland regions on Titan, suggesting it may be geologically young. Patterns resembling lava flows have also been observed, suggesting cryovolcanism A cryovolcano (sometimes informally called an ice volcano) is a type of volcano that erupts volatiles such as water, ammonia or methane into an extremely cold environment that is at or below their freezing point. Tui Mine
The Tui mine is an abandoned mine on the western slopes of Mount Te Aroha in the Kaimai Range of New Zealand. It was considered to be the most contaminated site in the country, following the cleanup of the former Fruitgrowers Chemical Company site at Māpua, Nelson. History In the 1960s, the Tui mine extracted copper, lead and zinc sulphides. The mine was abandoned in 1973, after the mining company Norpac Mining went bankrupt. Waste, rock ore dumps and mine tailings were left behind. The tailings have significant amounts of zinc and cadmium. The mine tailings are stored behind a dam in a large pool-like area which has an oxidised, solid surface layer. The dam contains over 100,000 cubic metres of very acidic, sulphide-rich tailings. In 1997, there had been no natural plant recolonisation on the tailings for more than 20 years. Environmental issues The tailings dam was considered to be unstable and is leaching various minerals, including heavy metals, into neighbouring water ... Tu'i
Tu'i, also spelled more simplistically Tui, is a Polynesian traditional title for tribal chiefs or princes. In translations, the highest such positions are often rendered as "king". For details, see the links below various polities. Traditionally, a Tui is an equivalent of God title. Origin of Tui is believed to be Tui Manu'a (the title given to the son of the Polynesian God Tagaloa, and therefore Tui were viewed as living Gods). Tui (intellectual)
The German modernist theatre practitioner Bertolt Brecht invented the term and used it in a range of critical and creative projects, including the material that he developed in the mid-1930s for his so-called ''Tui-Novel''—an unfinished satire on intellectuals in the German Empire and Weimar Republic—and his epic comedy from the early 1950s, '' Turandot or the Whitewashers' Congress''. The word is a neologism that results from the Acronym and initialism, acronym of a word play on "intellectual" ("Tellekt-Ual-In"). According to Mark Clark:Clark, M. W. (July 2006). ''Hero or Villain? Bertolt Brecht and the Crisis Surrounding June 1953''. Journal of Contemporary History. vol. 41 no. 3. pp. 451–475. Tui (beer)
DB Breweries is a New Zealand-based brewing company, owned by Heineken Asia Pacific. Founded in 1930 by Sir Henry Kelliher and W Joseph Coutts, the partners purchased Levers and Co. and the Waitemata Brewery Co. in Otahuhu. Asia Pacific Breweries acquired DB Breweries in 2004, which in turn was bought-out by Heineken International in 2012. The company mainly produces pale lager, whilst its Tui brand is one of the better-known beers in New Zealand, partly due to strong advertising. History The company was founded in 1930 by Sir Henry Kelliher with the purchase of Levers and Co. and the Waitemata Brewery Co. in Otahuhu, owned by W.J. Coutts, who became a director. Coutts' son, Morton Coutts, took over as director in 1946, and later developed a new production process called "continuous fermentation", which enabled beer to be made continuously, without the need to stop and clean between batches. The system proved popular enough to be sold to other brewing companies. Breweries DB ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
