Tui Lyon
Tui Lyon is an Australian roller derby player. Born in Tallangatta in Victoria, Australia, Lyon began skating with the Victorian Roller Derby League in Melbourne in 2008. In 2010, she moved to Cardiff in Wales, where she played for the Tiger Bay Brawlers, then she returned to Victoria in 2012. At the 2014 Roller Derby World Cup, Lyon played for Team Australia. She also became a coach of the Australian men's roller derby team, the Wizards of Aus, and was their bench coach at the 2016 Men's Roller Derby World Cup. While Victoria played roller derby at the highest level, Lyon found the expense of regularly travelling to the United States to compete to be too high. Angel City Derby Girls
Angel City Derby is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 2006 by a collective of skaters, the league is composed of nearly 200 members divided into four teams who skate on a flat track and compete against teams from the state of California and internationally. The league is skater-owned and operated, "by the skater, for the skater," a volunteer-fueled effort by the women and men in the organization. Angel City is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). In recent years Angel City's all-star team, the Hollywood Scarlets, has been considered one of the top teams in the WFTDA. The Men's Roller Derby World Cup is an international tournament in the sport of men's roller derby. The first World Cup was held between 14–16 March 2014 in Birmingham, England. The event has since been held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in July 2016, and Barcelona, Spain on April 5–8, 2018 The next tournament is to be hosted in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on 9–12 July 2020. The Wizards of AUS represent Australia in men's international roller derby. First formed in August 2013, the team was originally intended as a warm-up for the Men's Roller Derby World Cup (Birmingham, England 4 to 6 March 2014), in which they competed against the New Zealand Black Skates. Team Australia represents Australia in women's international roller derby, under the Women's Flat Track Derby Association, WFTDA rule set, in play such as at the Roller Derby World Cup.
