Tsergo Ri
Tsergo Ri (also knows as Tserko Ri) is a mountain peak located in Langtang National Park, Bagmati Province of Nepal. Location The peak is located south-east of Tsangbu Ri, and north-east of Baden-Powell Peak at above sea level. Langtang National Park
Langtang National Park was established in 1976 as Nepal's first Himalayan national park and the country's fourth protected area. It exceeds an elevation range of and covers an area of in the Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Sindhulpalchok Districts of the central Himalayan region. It encompasses 26 village communities and includes the Langtang valley. In the north and east it is linked with Qomolangma National Nature Preserve in Tibet Autonomous Region. The eastern and western boundaries follow the Bhote Koshi and the Trishuli river, respectively. The southern border lies north of the Kathmandu Valley. Tsangbu Ri
Tsangbu Ri (also known as ''Kimshung'') is a mountain peak in the Himalayas, located on the border of Bagmati Province of Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Location The mountain peak lies north of the Langtang Khola river valley in Langtang National Park at above sea level. The border to China is just 2 km north of the summit. Baden-Powell Peak
Baden-Powell Scout Peak, formerly known as Urkema Peak, in Nepal is part of the Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world. It is on the border with China about a hundred miles west of Mount Everest. As part of the Scouting 2007 Centenary, the government of Nepal renamed Urkema Peak to Baden-Powell Scout Peak, to commemorate 100 years of Scouting in honor of British soldier Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the World Scouting movement. First Ascent The first ascent of Baden-Powell Peak was completed by an international team of Scouting members, including members from Australia, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Nepal. Shishapangma
Shishapangma, also called Gosainthān, is the 14th-highest mountain in the world, at above sea level. In 1964, it became the last of the 8,000-metre peaks to be climbed. This was due to its location entirely within Tibet and the restrictions on visits by foreign travelers to the region imposed by Chinese authorities. Name Geologist Toni Hagen explained the name as meaning a "grassy plain" or "meadow" (') above a "comb" or a "range" (' or ') in the local Tibetan language, thereby signifying the "crest above the grassy plains". Tsergo Ri Landslide
The Tsergo Ri landslide was a prehistoric landslide in the Nepalese Himalaya, which took place around 51,000±13,000 years ago, during the Last Glacial Period. During the collapse, a mass of rock of about detached from a previous mountain or ridge and descended with a speed of about ; later, glaciers eroded almost the entire landslide mass. Previously weakened rocks may have contributed to the collapse, which was probably started by an earthquake. Geomorphology and geology The collapse of Tsergo Ri took place in Nepal's Langtang valley, perpendicular to the Himalaya and about north of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. The small settlement of Kyangjin Kharka lies at the foot of the landslide deposit.
